Procedure: preamble

The parliament of the most excellent and powerful prince James, by the grace of God, king of Great Britain, France and Ireland, defender of the faith, held in Perth on 1 July in the year of the Lord 1606 by the commissioners named below, namely James [Gordon], earl of Sutherland, Andrew [Stewart], lord Ochiltree, Alexander [Lindsay], lord Spynie, Peter [Rollock], bishop of Dunkeld, David [Lindsay], bishop of Ross, Alexander [Forbes], bishop of Caithness, John [Bothwell], commendator of Holyroodhouse, William [Melville], commendator of Tongland, together with [Francis Hay, earl of Erroll], the constable, James Stewart for the marischal, Lord John Moncrieff for the sheriff of Perth and William Mackieson, dempster. Suits were called and the court affirmed.
