Procedure: commission to the privy council regarding the accounts of taxation
The king's majesty, his nobility, council and estates presently convened give and grant full power and commission, express bidding and charge to the lords of his highness's privy council (or any 9, 8 or 7 of them, to be nominated by his majesty) to hear and examine the accounts of Mark [Kerr], lord Newbattle, collector of the taxation of 200,000 merks granted to his majesty by his estates in the month of December 1597, allowances and discharges upon the same accounts of the taxation to give, subscribe and deliver, and the same account to foot, end and subscribe, and generally all and sundry other things to do, exercise and use that to the execution of this commission is necessarily required, firm and stable.
