Procedure: protest

Protestation made by Sir Robert Melville [of Murdocairnie]

In presence of the king's majesty and estates presently convened compeared Sir Robert Melville of Murdocairnie and protested that whatever condition was made of the mint-house to Thomas Foulis, or any other condition or order made to any other person for payment of their debts, shall in no way be hurtful nor prejudicial to the said Sir Robert regarding the payment of the debts owing to him by his majesty or treasurer, but that the treasurer remain debtor to him according to the particular condition set down in the council between the treasurer and the said Sir Robert, to the which act that this act shall in no way derogate in any point. The which protestation our said sovereign lord and estates admitted.
