Act in favour of the burgh of the Canongate

Our sovereign lord and estates of this present parliament ratify, approve and for his highness and his successors perpetually confirm the erection of the burgh of the Canongate, with the whole old privileges, immunities and liberties granted to the said burgh, superiors thereof, burgesses, craftsmen and inhabitants of the same, by his highness and his predecessors in any time bygone before the date hereof in all and sundry clauses, articles, privileges and circumstances whatsoever specified and contained therein, providing always that the magistrates of the Canongate take sufficient order regarding the removing of the common and idle beggars of the high street and highway thereof.
