Regarding the buying of lands and possessions depending in plea by judges or members of courts

Our sovereign lord and estates of this present parliament statute and ordain that in time coming it shall not be permissible to any lords of session, ordinary or extraordinary, advocates, clerks, writers, their servants or any other member of the college of justice, or any inferior judgments within this realm, their deputes, clerks or advocates, directly or indirectly by themselves or any others in their names to their benefit or utility, to buy any lands, teinds, rooms or possessions which are depending in controversy or question between any parties, or have been depending and not as yet decided, which if they or any of them do and contravenes the premises, the said lords of session, advocates, clerks, writers, their servants or any other member of the college of justice or any inferior judgments within this realm, their deputes, clerks and advocates shall lose their office, place and all privileges and immunities held or that may be held by them by virtue thereof.
