Ratification to William Beaton

2Our sovereign lord and estates of this present parliament, remembering the good, true and thankful service done to his highness by his beloved William Beaton, embroiderer, ratify, approve and, for his highness and his successors, perpetually confirm the office of embroiderer and keeping of his highness's wardrobe conveyed of old by his highness to the said William, and ratified thereafter upon 24 January 1588 [1589], with the special salary of the sum of £30 money assigned to him in the said gift to be paid to him yearly out of the readiest of the customs of the tron of Edinburgh by the customs officer thereof during all the days of the said William's own lifetime only; and ordains our sovereign lord's comptroller present and to come and others due and in use of payment of the foresaid salary, and of all other casualties and duties belonging and pertaining to the said office, to answer and make thankful payment of the same to him during his lifetime as said is.
