Ratification to Andrew Melville of Garvock, master household2
3Our sovereign lord, after his lawful and perfect age of 25 years complete, with advice of his estates in this present parliament, ratifies, approves and confirms the letters of gift made, given and granted by his highness, with advice and consent of his trusty and well-beloved councillors, Sir John Maitland of Thirlestane, knight, chancellor, Thomas [Lyon of Baldukie], master of Glamis, treasurer, Sir Lewis Bellenden of Auchnoull, knight, justice clerk, Sir Robert Melville of Murdocairnie, knight, treasurer depute, and Master Robert Douglas, provost of Lincluden, collector general and treasurer of the new augmentations, to his daily servant, Andrew Melville of Garvock, his majesty's master household, during all the days of his lifetime, of all and whole a yearly pension of all and sundry the feu mails and annualrents of the temporal lands of the abbacy of Crossraguel pertaining to his highness by virtue of the act of annexation of temporal and kirk lands to the crown, extending yearly to the sum of 400 merks money of this realm, a safe and just calculation, together with 8 chalders of oats yearly to be taken up out of the third of the old assumption of the oats of the bishopric of St Andrews at the terms of payment used and wont in all and sundry points, articles and clauses thereof; decreeing and ordaining that the said gift is not, nor shall not, be comprehended in any of his past revocations or to come, but specially excepted and reserved out of the same.
