Act for changing of a part of the assumption of the third of the abbacy of Arbroath

Forasmuch as it has pleased the king's majesty, our sovereign lord, for the good, true and profitable service done to him by his beloved Master Peter Young, his highness's preceptor and master almoner, and that in the education of his highness virtuously in letters during his minority, to have confirmed certain infeftments which the said Master Peter has obtained of certain feu lands of the abbacy of Arbroath, paying thereof a duty of silver, of the which lands the duties were used of before to the general collector as assumed in the third of the said abbacy; our sovereign lord, willing that the infeftments obtained by the said Master Peter be in no way hurt nor prejudiced for any cause preceding the date of this act, but that the same stand as a perpetually right to him in all times coming, according to the tenor of the same, ordains therefore and commands his collector general and lords auditors of his highness's exchequer to alter the assumption of the third of the said abbey of that part now pertaining to the said Master Peter, and to take proportionally a third of the remaining rents of the said abbey according to the duty contained in the said Master Peter's infeftment, assuming the third of the readiest of the rents, money or victuals of whatsoever kirks, lands or teinds belonging to the said abbey, beginning of the crop 1581, and so forth yearly in time coming, to endure until our said sovereign lord of certain knowledge and deliberate mind has declared a contrary will by his express command and ordinance, and that with the advice of his highness's estates in parliament, and ordains letters of publication to be directed hereupon, if need be, in the appropriate form.
