Declaration in favour of Alexander Home of Manderston
Forasmuch as at command and express direction of our sovereign lord, with advice of the lords of his highness's secret council, Alexander Home of Manderston intromitted with the place of Morham for apprehension of Master Archibald Douglas, parson of Glasgow, suspected and dilated in presence of his highness and his said council of crimes of treason and lese-majesty, and of his letters and writs; and thereafter his highness, willing that the said Alexander were freed and delivered of the said place, therefore his majesty, with advice of his said secret council, ordained and commanded the said Alexander Home to render and deliver the said house and place of Morham, with all the goods and gear, furnishings and plenishing being therein and intromitted with by him, at his highness's direction and command as said is, to John Calder, Bute pursuivant, upon inventory thereof, to be interchangeable, made, passed and subscribed between them thereupon, to the effect that the said goods, gear, furnishings and plenishing may be forthcoming, as law will; therefore our sovereign lord, with advice of his three estates and whole body of this present parliament, decrees and declares that the said Alexander, in his intromission with the said place and searching of the said Master Archibald to be apprehended, has done his duty and acceptable service to his highness, and that he, nor the persons assisting him in that deed, shall incur no crime, pain, hurt or danger thereupon in their persons, lands or goods, nor be called nor accused for the same criminally nor civilly by any manner of way in time coming, exonerating and discharging them simply thereof and of all action and claim that may be intended against them thereof by this present act forever.
