The which day, in presence of [James Stewart, earl of Moray], my lord regent's grace, the lords of secret council and others of the nobility and estates above-written, Master John Wood, one of the senators of our sovereign lord's college of justice, having explained and declared the form of his proceedings and negotiation with the queen's majesty of England and her council, according to the directions and instructions given and sent to him by my lord regent's grace continually since the said Master John was first employed in that charge and service to the day and date hereof, my lord regent's grace, with advice of the said lords of secret council and others of the nobility and estates above-specified, after good advisement and due consideration of the circumstances of the said proceedings and negotiation, finds and declares that the said Master John has truly, honestly and diligently performed and discharged his charge and duty in the matters committed to his credit, and exonerated him thereof; and ordained a note and act to be made of their said declaration to remain for perpetual memory.
