The parliament of the most excellent prince James VI, by the grace of God, king of Scots, continued as the preceding acts contain more fully, now held by the magnificent prince James [Stewart], earl of Moray, lord Abernethy, etc., regent of the same kingdom, on 18 August 1568, the three estates being present, with Sir Simon Preston of that Ilk, justice general, William Henderson, constable depute, Monano Hog, marischal depute, Master John Cunningham, serjeant principal, and Andrew Lindsay, dempster. The suits called previously before the continuation of the said parliament, as is more fully contained in the acts above.

The which day, Simon Preston of that Ilk, knight, provost of Edinburgh, made faith in presence of [James Stewart, earl of Moray], my lord regent, and three estates of parliament that he shall loyally and truly administer in the office of justiciary in this present parliament, and in time coming, according to our sovereign lord's commission under his great seal, of the date 10 August 1568.

Compeared John Ramage, reader at the kirk of Dalserf, as executor of Robert Hatton of Dalserf, and showed that the said Robert is so vexed with infirmity and so unable that he has lain bedfast these eight years past, as is known to a part of the nobility now present, and was ready to make faith thereupon.
Compeared Master Clement Little as executor for James Heriot of Trabrown, and alleged that the said James was in ward at command of [James Stewart, earl of Moray], my lord regent's grace, in keeping of [Alexander Home], lord Home within the castle of Home and Fast Castle and so might not compear.
Compeared personally Master Archibald Crawford, parson of Eaglesham, and William Crichton of Newhall.
Peter Thomson, herald, with three witnesses marked in the first endorsement of the great summons, proves the same.
John Paterson, herald, with the witness marked in the second endorsement of the said great summons, proved the same.
Peter Scott and Robert Fockart, witnesses contained in John Calder's endorsement, proved the same.
Adam MacCulloch, Marchmont herald, with the witnesses marked in the first endorsement of the second summons made upon [John Leslie], bishop of Ross and others, proved the same.
Alexander Forrester, Carrick pursuivant, with the witness marked in the second endorsement of the same summons, proved the same.
Oswald Porter, messenger, with the witness marked in the third endorsement made upon [Thomas Campbell] abbot of Holywood and [Gilbert Brown, abbot of] New Abbey, proved the same.
Peter Thomson, herald, with the witness marked in the first endorsement of the summons† against Patrick Hepburn of Whitecastle, proved the same.
John Paterson, herald, with the witness contained and marked in the second endorsement of the same summons, proved the same.
Master John Spence of Condie, advocate to our sovereign lord, asked instruments of the reading of the endorsements and verifications of the same, and that none compeared except the persons aforesaid.
The said advocate asked instruments that he produced the letters of relaxation duly executed and endorsed, relaxing all the persons specified in the said three summons from the process of horning led upon them for whatsoever cause bygone.†
