Our sovereign lord and estates of this present parliament convened, having seen and considered the infeftment made and given by his majesty under the great seal of the date 21 November 1614, to his highness's trusty and obedient subject Sir John Campbell of Cawdor, knight, and his male heirs heritably in feu ferm, of all and whole the isle and lands of Islay and Rhinns, and middle ward of Islay Ilyntassan, as well rentalled of before as unrentalled, at length particularly mentioned in the said infeftment, with all their pertinents, together with the castle, tower, fortalice and manor place of Dunyvaig and with the whole salmon fishings and other fishings of the said lands and isle of Islay; and likewise containing therein an erection of the said lands, isles and others therein mentioned in a whole and free barony called the barony of Islay, together also with a burgh of barony to be built upon any part within the bounds of the said isle where the said Sir John or his heirs shall think most expedient, with all privileges, liberties and immunities of a free burgh of barony, as in the said infeftment at length is contained. And being ripely advised therewith, his majesty and estates aforesaid have ratified and approved and, by the tenor hereof, ratify and approve the said infeftment in the whole heads, clauses, articles, circumstances and conditions contained therein and whole contents thereof, decreeing and ordaining the said Sir John, his male heirs and successors to have undoubted right to the aforesaid lands and isle particularly mentioned and contained in the aforesaid infeftment, with their whole parts, pendicles and pertinents whatsoever to be peaceably possessed and enjoyed by them after the form and tenor of the same infeftment in all points perpetually in all time coming.
