Sir George Home's protestation against John Stewart's erection of Coldingham

In presence of my lord commissioner and estates of parliament, compeared Sir George Home of Manderston, knight, heritable proprietor of the lands of Flemington called Nether Ayton, Redhall, Nether Byre, Broomlands and Gunsgreen, corn and waulk mills and mill lands, multures, parts and pertinents thereof, with their teind sheaves included, the lands of Fairnieside, with the teinds thereof included, all lying within the barony of Coldingham and sheriffdom of Berwick, and protested that the dissolution of the priory of Coldingham, whole lands, kirks and teinds thereof made in this present parliament and erection and disposition thereof in favour of John Stewart, son to the late Francis [Stewart], sometime earl of Bothwell should in no way be hurtful nor prejudicial to the said Sir George Home of Manderston's infeftments, rights, titles and securities made to him and his predecessors of the aforesaid lands and teinds included, and to the late George [Home], earl of Dunbar, his author of the same, but that the same may remain to him and them good and valid in themselves, notwithstanding of the said dissolution and erection of the said priory made in favour of the said John Stewart as said is. And also protested that the aforesaid dissolution and erection might in no way be prejudicial to any right or title the said Sir George has to any other lands or teinds lying within the said abbacy and barony of Coldingham and sheriffdom of Berwick, but that the same may likewise remain to him good and valid in themselves, notwithstanding of the said dissolution and erection in favour of the said John Stewart as said is. And the said John Stewart, being present with Master Lewis Stewart, his procurator, protested in the contrary.
