Ratification of Sir George Home [of Spott] of the burgh of Greenlaw

Our sovereign lord, with advice of his estates in this present parliament, ratifies, approves and, for his highness and his successors, perpetually confirms the infeftment granted by his majesty under the great seal to his grace's familiar and trusty servant Sir George Home of Spott, knight, of the date 1 July 1598, of the donation, creation and erection of the town of Greenlaw, lying within the sheriffdom of Berwick, in a free burgh of barony for ever, with all privileges, freedoms, liberties and immunities whatsoever given and granted in favour of the bailies, council, community and inhabitants thereof; and decrees and declares the same to have effect in all points, clauses and conditions after the form and tenor of the same in all time coming.
