The parliament of the most excellent and powerful prince James VI, king of Scots, held and opened in Edinburgh on 1 November in the year of the Lord 1600, by the undernoted commissioners of parliament, namely John [Graham], earl of Montrose, chancellor, Alexander [Elphinstone], master of Elphinstone, treasurer, Lord James Elphinstone of Barnton, secretary, Peter [Rollock], bishop of Dunkeld, James [Drummond], commendator of Inchaffray, Edward [Bruce], commendator of Kinloss, Mark [Kerr], lord Newbattle, Alexander [Seton], lord Fyvie, Thomas Fisher and George Heriot for Edinburgh, Alexander Rutherford [of Rubislaw] for Aberdeen, James Forret for Glasgow, James Drummond for Perth, commissioners specially constituted by the commission of our supreme lord the king, given under testimony of the great seal, together with Thomas Scott, marischal depute, William Henryson and William Hay for the constable, Daniel Graham and John Fraser for the sheriff, and Thomas Gannochan, dempster. Suits were called and the court affirmed. Upon the fencing of the said court, Master Thomas Hamilton [of Drumcairnie], advocate to our sovereign lord, asked instruments.
