4. This is followed by an act of the privy council and exchequer combined, 'Assignation of the Duke of Lennox out of the Isle of Lewis', dated at Dalkeith, 17 August 1598, printed in RPCS, v, 480. This, in turn, is followed by an act of the privy council, 'Articles anent the Isle of Lewis, in favour of the gentlemen adventurers', dated at Holyrood, 7 July 1598, printed in RPCS, v, 467-8. Despite being recorded in PA8/1, the register containing the proceedings of conventions of estates, both are explicitly privy council (although related to 1598/6/5) and hence have not been included here.
