  1. NAS, PA8/1, f.10r-11r. APS moved this roll to immediately after the relevant act, 1598/6/15, but in the mss it comes at the very end of the record of this convention. Back
  2. Immediately after this entry the signature 'J. Hay' appears at the bottom right of the page. Back
  3. Immediately after this entry the signature 'J. Hay' appears at the bottom right of the page. Back
  4. This is followed by an act of the privy council and exchequer combined, 'Assignation of the Duke of Lennox out of the Isle of Lewis', dated at Dalkeith, 17 August 1598, printed in RPCS, v, 480. This, in turn, is followed by an act of the privy council, 'Articles anent the Isle of Lewis, in favour of the gentlemen adventurers', dated at Holyrood, 7 July 1598, printed in RPCS, v, 467-8. Despite being recorded in PA8/1, the register containing the proceedings of conventions of estates, both are explicitly privy council (although related to 1598/6/5) and hence have not been included here.
