For execution of the acts regarding slaughter of black or red fish and fry of salmon

Our sovereign lord and estates of this present parliament, understanding that the acts of parliament made against slayers of black or red fish in forbidden time, destroyers of smolts and fry of salmon have not been put into execution in times bygone by reason of the jurisdiction of the sheriffs of every sheriffdom impeding the provost and bailies of burghs to prosecute justice relating thereto, have therefore ratified and approved the former acts made regarding slaying of salmon fish in forbidden time and destroying of smolts etc., and declares that it shall be lawful to the provost and bailies of every burgh in time coming to proceed against the contraveners of the said acts, if they shall happen first to arrest and apprehend them, before they be challenged by the sheriff or his deputes, notwithstanding that by the former acts the said power was restricted to the said sheriffs.
