Our sovereign lord and estates of this present parliament give and grant full power and commission to William [Douglas], earl of Morton etc., John [Erskine], earl of Mar etc., Sir Thomas Lyon of Auldbar, knight, treasurer to our sovereign lord, Walter [Stewart], commendator of Blantyre, lord privy seal, Alexander [Seton], lord Urquhart, president of the college of justice, Edward [Bruce], commendator of Kinloss, Mr Robert Douglas, provost of Lincluden, collector general, Master John Lindsay, parson of Menmuir, and Sir Patrick Vans of Barnbarroch, knight, or any seven of them jointly, to convene at such time and place as the said commissioners shall appoint among themselves, and there to treat and confer how in what manner there may by a minister provided at each parish kirk within this realm, and regarding their provision to local sufficient stipends and augmentation of their present stipends and assignation out of the thirds by the tacksmen of teinds and lands of whatsoever prelacies or other benefices within this realm according to the commission given relating thereto of before in the last parliament. And as the said commissioners agree in their said conference, ordains them to report the same by writ to his majesty and estates to be convened at the next parliament, to the effect they may set down a constant and solid order to be followed forth relating thereto in time coming.
