†Our sovereign lord and estates of parliament have seen and considered a charter and infeftment of feu ferm granted by John Stewart, son lawful to Francis [Stewart], sometime earl of Bothwell, and commendator of the abbey of Coldingham, convent and steward thereof; as also with consent of our said sovereign lord and of the said sometime earl and of certain others to Sir George Home of Prymroknow, knight, his heirs and assignees, of all and whole the lands of Horsley, with their pertinents, lying within the barony of Coldingham and sheriffdom of Berwick, to be held of the said commendator and convent and their successors in feu ferm and heritage, as the said infeftment bears; which infeftment, with the sasine and all that has followed thereupon, our said sovereign lord and his said estates have ratified and approved and, by this ratification, ratify, approve and confirm in all points, clauses and articles thereof, and the said ratification in this general form to be as sufficient as if the said infeftment were at length inserted in this ratification. And further our said sovereign lord, with advice of the said estates, for his highness and his successors, declares and decrees that the said infeftment granted to the said Sir George and his foresaids shall be a full and sufficient right to them for possessing and enjoying of the said lands according to the tenor thereof, notwithstanding whatsoever processes of forfeiture led, or to be led, against the said Francis, sometime earl of Bothwell, or whatsoever sentence or judgement given, or to be given, against the inability of his heirs and posterity, and specially against the said John Stewart, commendator foresaid, that they shall possess no lands, heritages, rooms, benefices or possessions within this realm, and notwithstanding whatsoever other reason that may be opposed against the said infeftment and validity thereof in any way.
