†The which day, in presence of our sovereign lord and his estates of parliament, compeared personally Ludovic, duke of Lennox, earl of Darnley, lord Tarbolton etc., and protested solemnly that the act passed in this present parliament regarding the ratification of whatsoever gifts of pensions, disposition of victual and sums of money asserted thereof, conveyed to Alexander, John and James Meldrum, lawful bairns to the late James Meldrum of Seggie, should not be prejudicial or hurtful to the said lord duke regarding his right and title that he has to the bishopric of St Andrews or any part of the duty thereof, and that he might be heard to propose his reasons and defences whensoever he should happen to be called upon his right of the same; and thereupon asked act and instruments.

†The which day, in presence of the king's majesty and estates of parliament, compeared personally Master James Carmichael, in name of the ministers of the kirks of the abbey of Haddington, and protested that the ratification of [James Meldrum], laird of Seggie's pension to his bairns be not prejudicial to them in their ordinary stipends assigned to them, whereof they have been in possession these years bygone, but that they may possess the same according to their said assignations, notwithstanding of the said ratification in this present parliament.
