Protestation of them that were on the assize of the [late] earls [James Douglas, earl of] Morton and [William Ruthven, earl of] Gowrie

The which day, in presence of the king's majesty and three estates of parliament, compeared personally John [Graham], earl of Montrose, lord Graham, etc., for himself and remaining persons that passed upon the assizes underwritten, and protested solemnly that the benefit and favour of restitution and general abolition passed in this present parliament should in no way be hurtful or prejudicial to the persons that were upon the assizes of the late earls of Morton and Gowrie, notwithstanding the act passed thereupon in this present parliament; and thereupon asked acts and instruments.
