Ratification granted to Sir James Home of Cowdenknowes, knight

Our sovereign lord, with advice of the three estates of this present parliament, has ratified, approved and confirmed and, by the tenor hereof, ratifies, approves and confirms the heritable infeftment and charter made to Sir James Home of Cowdenknowes, knight, and his heirs, of all and whole the lands and barony of Blythe, with the tower, a fortalice, manor place, orchards, yards, mills, multures, woods, fishings, outsets, parts, pendicles, tenants, tenantries and service of free tenants thereof, and specially the pendicles and tenantries of the said barony, namely, the lands of Gairmuir Thirlestane, with the mill of the same, the lands of Heugh, Thirlestane Mains, the West Kirklands, called West Mains, Widecleugh, Wantoun, Wallis, Lamileche, Egrop, Armiscleuch Lie, Forest Haugh, Over Tullouse, Nether Tullouse, with all their pertinents, lying within the lordship of Lauderdale and sheriffdom of Berwick; and also all and whole the lands of Weinpark, Lady Park and ten merk land lying within the town and territory of Lauder, with all and sundry their pendicles and pertinents lying as said is, as coming in our said sovereign lord's hands by process of forfeiture led and deduced against the late William Maitland, younger, of Lethington and John Maitland, sometime prior of Coldingham; and likewise the letters of pension granted to the said Sir James of the third of the priory of Eccles, conveyed to him by our said sovereign lord and his late father for the time (except so far as is specially excepted therein), and all other tacks, rights and titles whatsoever of the said third of the said benefice in all points, passes, clauses and articles specified therein, after the form and tenor thereof, expressly declaring by this act that the same is not, nor shall not, in any way be comprehended under our sovereign lord's said revocation presently made at this present parliament, but that the same is and shall be excepted, likewise our said sovereign lord, with advice aforesaid, by the tenor hereof, excepts the same out of the said revocation and also decrees this present declaration and exception is, and shall be, of as great force, strength and effect as if the same had been contained and inserted therein, and likewise declares the aforesaid infeftments, letters of pension, with the letters of tack and assedations and others above-specified, made, given and granted to the said Sir James in manner above-written, to have full force, strength and effect in all times coming, to the effect that he and his heirs may peaceably enjoy and possess the said lands, pensions, tacks and others respectively aforesaid, according to his former titles thereof, with letters of publication to pass hereupon in the appropriate form.
