Oure soverane lord and estaittis of this present parliament, considering perfytlie that thair is nothing mair neidfull for the advancement of Goddis honour within this realme and establissing of justice and peax in the pairtis sumtyme callit the bordouris then the planting of kirkis for preacheing of the word and ministratioun of the sacraimentis, whilkis [...] the reformatioun of the religioun hes nevir bene in the moist of these pairtis, and theirwith understanding by the reporte of the richt reverend father in God Johne, archibischop of Glasgow, wha had speciall commissioun frome his majestie and lordis of his hienes counsaill to visite the saidis boundeis and tak ordour for building and reparing of the kirkis within the samyn, that the povertie of the inhabitantis in these pairtis is so great that it is impossible that the saidis kirkis can ather be repairit or yit be sufficientlie plantit with ministeris in regaird of the meannes of the parochines unles certane of the saidis kirkis lyand nixt adjacent to otheris be unitit and annexit togidder, whilkis alsua may verie commodiouslie be done, as by speciall sicht of the saidis boundis in the said visitatioun hes apperit; thairfoir his majestie and estaittis ordanis and statutis ane unioun to be of the kirkis and parochinnes eftir following: that is to say, the kirkis of Mekill Daltoun, Litill Daltoun and Mowswald, the saidis thrie kirkis to be unite in one, the place of resorting for heiring of the word and ministratioun of the sacramentis to be at Litill Daltoun; the kirkis of Cummertreis and Trailtrow, the place of resorte to be Cummertreis; the kirkis of Reidkirk and Gratnay, and the place of the kirk to be at Gratnay; the kirk of Kirkpatrik and Kirkconneill and the kirk to be at Kirkconneill; the kirkis of Middilbie, Tundersacks and Corrutheres, the place to be at Middillbie; the kirkis of Sanct-Mungo and Tunnargath, the seat and place of the kirk to be at Tundergarth; the kirkis of Sibbilbie and Apilgirth, and the place of the kirk to be at Apilgirth; the kirkis of Hoddome, Eglischame and Lus, the place of the kirk to be at Hoddome neir the towne thairof; the kirkis of Corrie and Hwtoun, the place of the kirk to be at Hwtoun; and lykwayes the kirk of Sanctleonardis to be unitit to the kirk of Lanerk wheir the same hes bene continewalie servit in tymes bipast; quhilkis kirkis his majestie and estaittis of this present parliament unitis and annexis respective as they ar abone expremit, and ordanis the samin to remane in tyme cummig as parochines unit and incorporat, haveand for thair place and seat for heiring of the word, ressaveing of the sacramentis, mariage and utheris benefittis of the kirk, the particular kirkis and places abone designit, and ordanis the inhabitantis of the saidis parochinenes to contribute for the building and repairing of the saidis kirkis according to the quantitie of thair landis and possessionis, and lettres to be direct frome the lordis of sessioun to that effect. It shall be alwayes understude that notwithstanding of the unioun foirsaid, the manses and gleibbis of the severall kirkis above rehersit shall appertene to the ministeris serveing the cure thairof, with the liberteis and utheris privileges belanging thairto, and that for the better sustentatioun of the ministeris that shall be provydit thairto, and that the kirkis and kirkyairdis of those annexit kirkis shall remane severall for the use of the parochinneris to burie thair dead thairin at thair awin pleasure.

Oure soverane lord and estaittis of this present parliament, understanding that the kirk of Restalrig is ruynous and that the kirk of Leith hes bene the place of the convening of the parochineris of Restalrig the space of fyftie yeiris past, as alsua that it is maist commodious pairt in respect that the town of Leith is the greatest pairt of the said parochin, whilk kirk notwithstanding hes nevir yit bene erectit in ane paroch kirk, thairfoir oure soverane lord and estaittis of this present parliament declairis the said kirk of Leith to be ane parochkirk, and ordanis the samin to be repute and called heireftir the parochkirk of Leith, and all the inhabitantis of Restalrig to resorte thairto as unto thair parochkirk as they have done in tymes past; and that the benefice of Restalrig, personage thairof, gleib and manse pertening thairto shall be alwayes disponit to the minister serveing the cure at the said kirk of Leith in all tyme cumming, and that the said kirk of Restalrig be suppressed and extinct frome hencefurth and for evir, reserveand alwayes to the patrone and his successouris thair richt of patronage of the kirk of Restalrig; and the saidis estaittis declaris that the samyn richt of patronage shall nawayes be prejudgeit be this present act.

Oure soverane lord and estaittis of this present parliament, understanding that his majesties course haith evir bene fra the beginning not to punische the innocent for the offenderis cryme, sa in the foirfaltour of ony wha had mony vassellis, tennentis and frehalderis haldand thair landis of him, his hienes hes evir bene accustomit to mitigat that rigour and severitie of the law by speciall reservationis introducit in favouris of these vasselis and tennentis, excepting out of that foirfaltour thair estaittis in thair landis, albeit the samin (being unconfermit) by thair superiouris cryme did also fall in his majesteis handis, and heirupoun, carying that samin mynd towardis the tennentis and vassellis of the Lord Maxwell, now justlie foirfaltit for maist haynous crymes of lesemajestie and treassoun committit be him, his majestie is loth that, in his hienes intentioun of favour and grace towardis the innocent, he sould ather wrang his majesteis self in the just benefite whilk by that foirfaltour doeth accresce unto his hienes by the approveing of richtis whilkis wer nather lauchfullie nor in dew tyme acquirit, or by participating in the generall ony parcell of his majesteis mercie and bountie unto them wha have bene onyway accessorie and culpable of the crymes committit or utherwayes proude and contempteous ressaitteris and manteinaris of the tratour him self.
