Oure soverane lord and estaittis of this present parliament, undirstanding that be commissioun in the parliament haldin at Edinburgh, the ellevint day of August 1607, his majestie and estaittis thairof electit, nominat and cheisit Alexander, erle of Dunfermeling, chancellar, Patrik, erle of Kinghorne, and Mark, erle of Louthiane, to be of the quorum for setting doun of his majesteis blenche dueteis and modefeing of ministeres stipendis of all erectionis and patronages, conforme to ane former commissioun maid be his majestie and estaittis in the parliament haldin at Perth in the moneth of Julii 1606, in the quhilk first parliament umquhile Maister James Nicolsoun, thaireftir bischop of Dunkeld, wes nominat and electit ane of the comissionaris for modefeing of the ministeris stipendis, and that sensyne the saidis umquhile Mark, erle of Louthiane and James, bischop of Dunkeld ar depairtit this lyfe, thairfoir oure said soverane lord and estaittis of this present parliament, to the effect that thair deceises be na hinderance nor impediment to the progress of that wark, hes nominat, electit and chosin and, be the tennoure heirof, nominatis, electis and cheisis Robert, erle of Louthiane to be of the quorum in place of the said umquhile Mark, erle of Louthiane, his father, conforme to the said last commissioun in the parliament haldin at Edinburgh, the said ellevint day of August 1607, and Gavin, bischop of Galloway commissionar in place of the said umquhile Maister James Nicolsoun, bischop of Dunkeld, ane of the comissionaris in the said first comissioun maid in the said parliament in Julii 1606 for modefeing of ministeris stipendis, conforme to the tennoure of the samin comissioun, and ordinis the said Robert, erle of Louthiane, in place of the said umquhile Mark, erle of Louthiane, his father, and the said Bischop of Galloway in place of the said Bischope of Dunkeld, to meitt and convene with the remanent comissionaris nominat in the foirsaidis tua comissionis conforme to the tennoris thairof in all pointis.

Oure soverane lord and estaittis of this present parliament, haveand consideratioun of the manifauld gude, trew and thankfull services done to his majestie be his weilbelovit Schir James Murray of Cokpule, knycht, and be umquhile Charlis Murray of Cokpule, his father, hes ratefeit and approvin and, be the tennoure heirof, ratefeis and appreves the infeftment maid, gevin and grantit be his majestie under his hienes great seall of the date the tuelf day of Marche the yeir of God jM vjC and fyve yeiris, to the said umquhile Charlis Murray of Cokpule and his airis maill quhatsumevir beirand the surname and armes of Murray, of all and sindrie the landis and utheris underwrittin, viz: the landis of Cokpule, Ruvale tenement, the tour and fortalice of Cumlungane, Coklaikis, Pyhillis, Slachwatt, Ranepatrik, Brydchapell, Preistdykes, Howaldsyd, with the pertinentis, lyand in the stewartrie of Annanderdaill and schirefdome of Drumfreis, the landis of Link and landis of Arbigland, with thair pertinentis, lyand within the stewartrie of Kirkcubricht, with all thair mylnis, multuris, tennentis, tennendreis and service of frie tennentis, advocatioun and donatioun of kirkis and chaplanreis thairof and all thair pertinentis, all unite, annexit, treat and incorporat in ane haill and frie baronie callit the baronie of Cokpule; contenand alsua thairin ane erectioun and creatioun of the towne of Ruvale and landis thairof lyand in the said Ruvale tenement in ane frie burgh of baronie, to be callit in all time cummyng the burgh of Ruvale, with oulklie marcat dayes and frie faires and all utheris immuniteis, privileges and liberteis of ane frie burgh of baronie in all and sindrie pointis, heidis, articlis, clauses, conditionis and circumstances quhatsumevir specefeit and contenit thairin. And his majestie and estaittis foirsaidis of this present parliament willis, grantis, declaris, statutis and ordanis that the said Schir James Murray, now of Cokpule, knycht, sone and air of the said umquhile Charlis Murray of Cokpule, and his airis maill and successoures, shall peciablie posses, bruik, and jois all and sindrie the foirsaidis landis and baronie and utheris abone expressit with thair pertinentis, togidder with the foirsaid burgh of baronie callit the burgh of Ruvale, with all privileges and immuniteis thairof, as thair propirtie and heretage at thair pleasure, eftir the forme and tennoure of the said infeftment grantit to the said umquhile Charlis Murray of Cokpule and his airis foirsaidis of the samin perpetualie in all tyme cuming, but stop or impediment.

Attoure, his majestie, with consent, decreit and approbatioun foirsaid, giftis, grantis and disponis to the said George, erle of Dunbar, his airis and assignais all richt, titill, entres, clame, petitour and possessour, baith propirtie and possessioun, quhilk his hienes, his predecessouris and successouris evir had or may have to the saidis landis of Broxmouth, with all thair pertinentis or ony pairt of the samin be ressone of waird, releif, nonentres, escheat, forfaltour, recognitioun, purpresture, disclamatioun, reductioun of infeftmentis, alienatioun of the haill or maist pairt, changeing and alteratioun of the halding quhilk his majestie hes done and ratefeit of his royall power and princelie authoritie or for ony uther cause, actioun or occasioun bipast, renunceing and transferring the samin, with all actioun and instance thairof, to and in favouris of the said erle, his airis and assignais for evir, cum pacto de non petendo etc., with supplement of all faultis etc., promesing in the word of a prince, for his majestie and his successouris, nevir to move actioun, pley, questioun nor querrell aganis thame thairanent. And his majestie and estaittis foirsaidis declaris this present sall be ane sufficient warrand to the keiparis of his hienes signet, seallis and registeris for expeding the said confirmatioun to the said Erle of Dunbar. Oure soverane lord and estaittis of this present parliament ratefeis and appreves the charter and infeftment grantit be oure soverane lord under his hienes great seall to his majesteis lovit Schir James Dowglas of Spott, knycht, and his airis maill, tailyie and provisioun contenit in his former infeftment of the landis of Spott, and to the said Schir James assignais quhatsumevir heretablie, off all and haill the landis of Eister Spott, with pairtis, pendiclis and pertinentis thairof, viz: of the fourtene husband landis of the towne of Spott, with cottage thairof, eist and west myln of Spott, the landis of Lochhouse, the landis of Downe, and maynis thairof, and Brownisknow, the landis of Helden and Downtey, the landis of Eister and Wester Browniehouse, togidder with four husband landis callit Panflos landis and twa husband landis callit Pookis landis lyand in the towne and territorie of Spott, and siclyk of the landis of Reidpethnuk with tennentis, tennendreis and service of frie tennentis, mylnis, woddis, fischeingis, annexis, connexis, pairtis, pendiclis, dependences and pertinentis of all and sindrie the landis and mylnis abone writtin quhatsumevir lyand within the schirefdome of Edinburgh and constabularie of Hadingtoun, all unit in ane haill and frie baronie callit the barony of Spott, to be haldin of oure said soverane lord and his successouris in frie blenche for the yeirlie payment of the sowme of tuelf penies usuale money of this realme of Scotland at the feist of Witsonday upoun the ground of the saidis landis of Spott and within the maner place thairof in name of blenche ferme, gif it beis requirit, alanerlie, quhilk charter and infeftment is of the date at Edinburgh, the nynt day of August, the yeir of God jM vjC and fyve yeiris, with the precept and instrument of seasing following thairupoun in all and sindrie pointis, passes, heidis, articlis, clauses, provisionis, circumstances and conditionis quhatsumevir thairin contenit eftir the formes and tennouris thairof; and willis and grantis and, for his majestie and his successouris, decernis and ordanis that this present ratificatioun is and sall be als valide, effectuall and sufficient to the said Schir James Dowglas of Spott, knycht, his airis maill, tailyie, provisioun and assignais foirsaidis for bruiking and joising of the landis, baronie and utheris abone writtin, with the pertinentis above specefeit as thair heretage at thair plesure in all tyme cumming, as gif the foirsaid charter and infeftment, precept and instrument of seasing following thairupoun wer at lenth and word be word ingrossit heirintill; exceptand and reservand alwayes furth of this present ratificatioun the advocatioun, donatioun and richt of patronage of the personage and vicarage of Spott callit the prebendarie of Spott, and the saidis estaittis of this present parliament declaris that this present ratificatioun of the said Schir James Dowglas of Spottis infeftment sall nawayes authorize nor corroborat the samin infeftment suafar as the samin infeftment extendis, or may be extendit, to the advocatioun and donatioun of the patronage of the saidis personage and vicarage of Spott and prebendarie thairof.
