The quhilk day, in presens of the haill estaittis, Johne, erle of Montrose, great commissionar of this present parliament, producit ane wryting direct be his hienes to the haill estaittis of parliament gevand thame libertie to cheis new lordis of articlis, of the date frome Grenewich, the tuentie fourt day of Junii last bipast, off the quhilk letter the tennour followes: James R[ex], richt trusty and weilbelovit cousingis, counsaillouris and utheris, oure gude, lowing and obedient subjectis of the estaittis of that oure kingdome convenit in parliament, we great yow hartlie weill. Haveing hard of the different opinionis of some of your number concernyng the ordour observeit in preceding current parliamentis of that oure kingdome, anent the reteyning of the lordis of articlis chosin in the beginning thairof during the haill following sessiounes to the finall end and conclusioun of the said parliament, or change of thame at ilk severall sessioun, for avoyding of all unnecessar controversie upoun that subject and significatioun of oure favorable allowance of your lauchfull libertie thairin, we have frelie remittit the determinatioun of that doubt to the greatest and best part of your awin number, becaus we sa assuritlie persuade oure selffis of everie ane of your dueteis and affectionis in all materis concerning ws, that nane can be ungracious to ws quha sall be thocht worthie of that place be thame to quhome the electioun appertenis. Nevirtheless, gif ye do think it expedient that, at the beginning of this sessioun of parliament, new electioun and chuse suld be maid of the lordis of articlis, in that caise, by ressone thair ar sum moir perfytlie acquantit than utheris with oure favorable designis in materis greatlie concerning the universall weill of that oure kingdome, pairtlie by oure speciall directionis and pairtlie by oure lettres, we have [...] thocht gude to [...] roll of thair names [...] contenit in that catho[...] thame quha for just [...]selffis of your willi[...] court of Grenewiche [...].
