Oure soverane lord and estaittis of this present parliament, for certane gude respectis and considerationis moveing thame, ratefeis and apprevis the giftis and provisionis of the abbaceis of Coldinghame and Jedburgh grantit be his hienes to Alexander, lord Home in all and sindrie pointis, heidis, articlis, clauses and conditionis contenit thairintill, eftir the formes and tennouris thairof, and decernis and declaris the samyn to be gude and lauchfull richtis and provisionis to him for bruiking and joising thairof during his lyfetyme, nohtwithstanding of quhatsumevir act, law, statute or constitutioun maid or to be maid in the contrair, dispensing thairwith be thir presentis; and becaus the tyme of the first upgeving of the rentallis of the saidis benefices the samin wer in the auld integritie and wer abill to pay the auld assumit thriddis thairof quhilk they ar nocht now abill to beir, his provisionis thairof being na forder extendit but to the spiritualitie of the samin, quhilk for the maist pairt is sett in lang takkis, great pensionis gevin furth of the samyn, mony monkis portionis evictit furth thairof and the haill temporalitie annexit to the crowne, quhairthrow oure said soverane lord and the ministrie ar defraudit of the payment of the sure thrid, and the said Lord Home is hevelie chargit and trublit with payment of the auld assumit thrid, quhilk the rentis of the spiritualitie of the saidis benefices ar nawayes abill to pay, sustene and beir; thairfoir his majestie, with advyse foirsaid, hes gevin, grantit and committit and be thir presentis gevis, grantis and committis full power and commissioun to the Lord Auldbar, lord advocat, Halyrudhous, lord collectour, and Lord Cranstounriddell, or ony thrie of thame conjunctlie, to try the valour of the present estaittis of the saidis benefices and rentis of the spiritualitie thairof, and according thairto to mak ane new just thrid of the frie dueteis of the samyn; quhilk thrid sua ressavit and maid, his majestie, with consent foirsaid, decernis and ordinis to be registrat in the clerkis buikis of the collectorie and ordinis the assignatioun to be gevin furth yeirlie in tyme cumming according to the new thrid and na utherwayes, nochtwithstanding ony auld assumptioun of ony thrid gevin up of the saidis benefices in ony tyme bigane, quhilkis his majestie, with consent foirsaid, ordanis to have na force, strenth nor effect in tyme cumming.
