Oure soverane lord and estaitis of this present parliament ratifies, apprevis and for his hienes and his successouris perpetuallie confirmis the erectioun of the burgh of the Cannougait, with the haill auld privilegeis, immunities and liberties grantit to the said burgh, superiouris thairof, burgeses, craftismen and inhabitantis of the same, be his hienes and his predicessouris in ony tyme bygane befoir the dait heirof in all and sindre clauses, articles, privilegis and circumstances quhatsumevir specifiit and contenit thairin, providing alwayes that the magistratis of the Cannowgait tak sufficient ordour anent the removing of the commoun and idle beggarris of the hie gait and streit thairoff.
