The quhilk day the kingis majestie, in presence of his estaitis of parliament, declarit that, safar as he rememberis, he nevir gaif, grantit nor subscryvit ony remissioun to quhatsumevir personis that wes at the slauchter of umquhile Hew, erll of Eglintoun, except allanerlie to David Cuninghame of Robertland. Upoun the quhilk declaratioun, Robert, lord Seytoun and Robert, lord Semple tuik instrumentis and immediatlie thaireftir James, erll of Glencarne protestit that the kingis majesties declaratioun abonewrittin suld nocht prejuge ony of the saidis erllis freindis quha hes alreddie gottin remissioun for the said slauchter, bot that thay may be hard to defend thame selffis be law upoun the remissionis obtenit be thame for the said slauchter, or quhensoevir thai suld be summond to underly the law thairfoir, nochtwithstanding the foirsaid declaratioun.
