†Oure soverane lord, now eftir his aige of tuentie fyve yeiris, with avise of the estaitis of this present parliament, ratifies, apprevis and, for his majestie and his successouris, perpetualie confermis the contract and appointment maid and perfitit betuix his majestie on the ane pairt and umquhile Williame Douglas, than of Glenbervie and last erll of Angus, father to his hienes richt traist cousing and counsallour Williame, now erll of Angus, lord Douglas, Abirnethie etc., quhilk umquhile Williame, erll of Angus wes at that tyme narrest and apperand air maill and of talyie to umquhile Archebald, erll of Angus, lord Douglas, Abirnethie etc., his immediat successour in the said erldome of Angus, and als narrest and lauchtfull apperand air of talyie to umquhile Archebald, erll of Angus, quha wes guidschir brother to the said umquhile Archebald, erll of Angus, that last deceissit on the uther pairt, off the dait at Edinburgh, the sevint day of Merche, the yeir of God jM vC fourscoir aucht yeiris, actit and registrat in the buikis of counsaill and decernit to have the strenth of ane act and decreit of the lordis of counsell and thair auctoritie interponit thairto upoun the same day, moneth and yeir anent the renunceatioun, alienatioun and dispositioun maid be his hienes to the said umquhile Williame, erll of Angus, his aris maill and of talyie specifiet in the said contract, off all and sindre the landis, leving and erledome of Angus specifiit thairin, contening the particuler landis, lordschippis, baronies, regalities, castellis, towris, fortalices, mylnis, multuris, woddis, fischingis, advocationis, donationis and richt of patronages of kirkis, benefices and chaiplenries of the same and all thair pertinentis togidder with the leid mynis and minerallis thairof and pertinentis of the same; and siclyk ratifies, apprevis and confermis the said umquhile Williame, erll of Angus service and retour, quhairby he was servit and retourit as narrest and lauchtfull air to the said umquhile Archibald, erll of Angus that last deceissit in the foirsaid erledome of Angus, with his infeftmentis and seasingis of the samyne past upoun the said retour, and als the said Williame, now erll of Angus, his retour, infeftmentis and seasingis of the same erldome with the pertinentis as narrest and lauchtfull air to his said umquhile father, with all utheris infeftmentis, seasingis, retouris and richtis, gif ony be past upoun the said contract, in favouris of the said umquhile Williame, erll of Angus, Williame, now erll of Angus, his sone, or ather of thame, in all and sindrie pointis, pasis, articles, clausis, immunities, privilegis, liberties, conditionis and circumstances thairof quhatsumevir thairin contenit; and decernis and declaris that the foirsaid contract and appointment with the services, retouris and infeftmentis respective abonewrittin following thairupoun past and maid in favouris of the said umquhile Williame, erll of Angus, Williame, now erll of Angus, his sone, his aris and assignais, presentlie ar, have bene sen the first making thairof and salbe in all tyme cuming effectual, guid, valide and sufficient in thame selffis to the said Williame, now erll of Angus, his aris and assignais mentionat in the said contract and to quhome he salhappin to tailyie or provide the foirsaid leving and erledome of Angus in tyme cuming, for peceable bruiking and joysing of the same haill erldome and leving of Angus with the pertinentis and everie part of the same perpetuallie in all tyme cuming according to the tennouris thairof in all pointis, nochtwithstanding quhatsumevir richt oure said soverane lord hes, or may pretend thairto, be foirfaltour as narrest of kin to ony of his predicessouris or utherwayis be quhatsumevir richt competent to his hienes, and nochtwithstanding his majesties revocatioun maid in this present parliament, or to be maid in ony tyme heireftir or ony utheris his hienes revocationis, actis, lawes, statutes or constitutionis generall or speciall maid, or to be maid, in the contrair in prejudice thairof, under the quhilkis the foirsaidis contract, services, retouris, infeftmentis and seasingis respective abonewrittin nor nane of thame, nor na thing thairin contenit, sall nevir be comprehendit be na maner of way. And forder, his majestie, with advise of the saidis estaitis and haill bodie of this present parliament, willis and grantis and, for his hienes and his successouris, decernis and ordanis that this present generall ratificatioun and approbatioun of the contractit services, retouris, infeftmentis and seasingis abonewrittin is, and salbe, of als greit efficacie, force, strenth and effect in all respectis and conditionis as gif the same wer at lenth and word be word ingrossit heirin.

†Oure soverane lord and estaitis of parliamnent, understanding that dyverse of the frie tennentis and heretable fewaris of the temporal landis of the priorie of Sanctandrois, being for the maist pairt meine wassellis, hes bene enterit to thair landis be his hienes traist cousing and counsallour Ludovick, duke of Lennox, commendater of the priorie of Sanctandrois, and his yconomus sen the making of the lait act of annexatioun of all ecclesiasticall landis to the croun that being in bona fide that the richt of the superioritie continewit in the persoun of the said commendater; and considdering that a greit nowmer of the saidis wassellis ar of sa meine rent and qualitie that thai ar nocht able to mak the expensis upoun thair resignatioun and entresis at his hienes chancellarie, and als in respect that a greit part of the patrimonie of the said abbay is exhaustit be takkis and pensionis takin furth of the same sua that little or na commoditie thairof sall remane with the said commendater gif he be excludit fra the superioritie thairof; thairfoir our said soverane lord and estaitis foirsaidis grantis and disponis to the said commendater, during all the dayis of his lyftyme, the richt of the superioritie of the temporal landis of the said priorie of Sanctandrois, with power to him and his commissionaris and utheris in his name speciallie constitute to that effect according to the auld use and consuetude usit be the said commendater and his predicessouris in the said prelacie, to ressave all and sindrie resignationis to be maid be quhatsumevir heretable tennentis or fewaris of the saidis temporal landis and to gif entresis to thame and thair aris of the saidis temporall landis conforme to thair auld infeftmentis maid to thame thairupoun; and siclyk ratifies and apprevis all and quhatsumevir resignationis maid in ony tyme bygane sen the said act of annexatioun to quhatsumevir fewaris of the saidis landis in the handis of the said commendater, his yconomus and comissionaris foirsaid with all and sindrie entress maid and gevin be thame in tyme bygane, declaring all and sindre resignationis and entresis of the frie tennentis of the said priorie maid, or to be maid, to be als guid, valide and sufficient to the ressavaris thairof for bruiking and joysing of the saidis landis as gif the same haid bene gevin and grantit be his hienes, or gif thai haid bene enterit be his hienes chancellarie, nochtwithstanding of the said act of annexatioun, to the quhilk this present act sall mak expres dirogatioun in safar as the samyn may be extendit to the superioritie of the saidis landis during the said commendateris lyftyme.

And to the effect the said infeftment may abyd and remane in full force, strenth and effect in all tyme heireftir, oure said soverane lord and his saidis estaitis in parliament ratifies and apprevis the same and of new gevis, grantis and disponis the same to the said Robert, erll of Orknay in lyfrent, and to the said Patrik, maistir of Orknay, his sone, in fie and heretage, all and haill the said erledome and lordschip, preheminence and offices foirsaidis, to be bruikit, joysit and possessit be thame efter the forme and tennour of the said former infeftment in all pointis; and ordanis ane new infeftment to be exped thairupoun to thame with all clausis neidfull, kepand the substance foirsaid gif thai think it neidfull and expedient for thair securitie. And forder, oure said soverane lord and estaitis foirsaidis have dissolvit and dissolvis the landis of the erledome of Orknay and lordschip of Zetland with the patrimonie and offices foirsaidis fra the annexatioun thairof to the croun, to the effect that the said former infeftment alreddie exped or the said new infeftment, gif the same be thocht expedient be the said Robert, erll of Orknay and his foirsaidis, may remane in full strenth and force perpetuallie hereftir. And his majestie and his estaitis of parliament hes declarit and declaris and, for majestie and his successouris, decernis and ordanis the said dissolutioun presentlie maid to be als guid, valide and effectuall in it self to the effect foirsaid as gif the same dissolutioun haid bene maid in parliament befoir the granting of the said former infeftment, suppleing the same and all defectionis that may result thairthrow in all pointis be thir presentiz. And mairower, becaus it is fullelie understand to his majestie and his estaitis foirsaidis that oure said soverane lordis umquhile darrest mother, efter hir perfite aige, disponit to the said Robert, now erll of Orknay, the richt of patronages of all the benefices within Orknay and Zetland, lyk as the richt of the said patronage wes renewit to him dyverse tymes thaireftir, and last of all, the richt of patronage of all the saidis benefices ar disponit to the said Robert, erll of Orknay in lyfrent, and to the said Patrik, maistir of Orknay, his sone and air apperand, and his foirsaidis, in fie and heretage, as is befoir specifiet; thairfoir oure said soverane lord and his saidis estaitis, upoun certane knawlege, efter cognitioun of the caus, hes fund and declarit and, be the tennour heirof, findis and declaris the richt and title of the saidis patronages to have remaneit with the said Robert, now erll of Orknay, fra the tyme of his said first infeftment and to remane with him in lyfrent, and the said Patrik, maistir of Orknay, his aris and assignais foirsaid in fie and heretage in all tyme cuming; and that na uther has haid nor sall pretend richt thairto, nochtwithstanding of quhatsumevir act, statute or constitutioun maid in this present parliament or ony of his hienes revocationis generall or speciall maid thairin, or at ony† heirtofoir befair the dait heirof.
