†Oure soverane lord, with avise of the estaitis of this realme and haill body of this present parliament, ratifies, apprevis and, for his majestie and his successouris, perpetuallie confermis the tua giftis undirwrittin with the confirmatioun past upoun the secund thairof, maid, gevin and grantit to and in favoris of the provest, ballies, merchandis, burgesses, counsell and communitie of Hadingtoun, the ane under the gret seill be his hienes maist noble progenitor James, be the grace of God, king of Scottis, to the merchandis, burgesses and communitie of the said burgh, makand thame and thair successouris saulf, frie and quite fra all payment of custume of salt and skynnis undirwrittin, callit in the vulgar toung scorlingis, scaldingis, futefaillis, lentrenvare, lambskynnis, todskynnis, calfskynnis, cuning skynnis, otterskynnis and fwmartskynnis, as at mair lenth is contenit in the said gift; and the secund of the saidis giftis grantit be umquhile Richert Guthre, abbot of the monasterie of Sanct Thomas the Martire of Abirbroth, quhilk umquhile Richart foundit, the hospitall of Sanct Laurance bewast the said burgh of Hadingtoun, and dotit sindrie rentis and possessionis thairto, be the quhilk gift and fundatioun of the said hospitall it is speciallie providit that furth of the possesionis and proventis of the said hospitall, the master thairof sall gif yeirlie to the leprois of Hadingtoun remaning in the leprois housis thairof, ane chalder of wictuall, meill, beir or quheit for thair sustentaoun and support, and to be faithfullie payit to thame yeirlie at tua termes be evin portionis, viz: at Witsonday in somer and Martimes in winter, as in the said gift or fundatioun contening sindre uther dewties to be payit furth of the said hospitall of St Laurance to the saidis leprois at mair lenth is contenit, quhilk was also ratifiet and confermit under the greit seill be his hienes maist noble progenitor umquhile James, be the grace of God, king of Scottis, as the samyn confirmatioun in the selff beris, in all and sindrie pointis, heidis, passes, articles, clauses, immunities, privilegis, conditionis and circumstances quatsumevir thairin mentionat, alsweill not expressit as expressit, and willis and declaris that this present ratificaoun is, and salbe, als sufficient as gif the foirsaidis giftis and confirmationis abonewrittin, past upoun the last thairof as said is, wer at lenth ingrossit heirin, and that the samyn with thir presentiz ar, and salbe, effectuall, guid, valide and sufficient to the saidis provest, ballies, merchandise† and inhabitantis of the said burgh of Hadingtoun and thair successouris, for bruiking of thair privilegis foirsaidis concerning the salt and skunnis foirsaidis to be custumefrie, and all uther privilegis contenit thairin, alsweill not namit as namit, in all tyme cuming; as alsua that the fundatioun foirsaid contening the provisioun abonewrittin maid in favoris of the saidis leprois salbe effectuall, sufficient and guid securitie for the saidis provest, ballies, counsall and communitie and thair successouris to uplift the foirsaid chalder victuall furth of the rentis of the hospitall abonewrittin and all uther dewties contenit in the said fundatioun of all yeris bygane and to cum, nochtwtstanding quhatsumevir act, statute or constitutioun maid in the contrair, under the quhilkis the premisses ar, nor sall nawayis be comprehendit. Lyk as his majestie, with avise foirsaid, renuncis, gevis, grantis and disponis fra him and his successoris to the saidis provest, ballies, counsaill and citie, in name of the saidis leproises, all richt, titlie and clame of richt quhilkis his majestie, his predicessouris or successoris foirsaidis haid, hes or may have to the foirsaid chalder wictuall or utheris dewties mentionat in the fundatioun foirsaid, mortifiit to the saidis leprois as said is, for now and evir, but prejudice alwayes of the infeftment of fewferme maid be the prioress and sisteris of the Schenis beside Edinburgh to umquhile Sir Lues Bellenden of Auchnoule, knicht, clerk of his hienes justiciarie, his airis and successouris, off all and haill the landis callit Sanct Laurence House lyand at the wast end of the toun of Hadingtoun and within the constabularie thairof, off the dait the xv day of Februar, jM vC lxij yeiris, and siclyk but prejudice of ane uther infeftment off fewferme maid be the said Sir Lues of the foirsaidis landis to Mr Thomas Craig, advocat, and Helene Heriott, his spous, in conjunctfie and the aris laufullie to be gottin betuix thame, quhilkis failyeing, to the said Mr Thomas airis and assignais quhatsumevir, off the dait the xxiij day of Marche jM vC lxxxvij yeris, with the seasingis and confirmatonis following upoun ather of the saidis infeftmentis as accordis of the law.
