†Oure soverane lord and his thre estaittis of parliament haif at lenth sene, considerit and understand the act maid in the parliament haldin at Halyruidhous, the last day of Aprile the yeir of God jM vC lxxiij yeiris, contenand the grant of the pacificatioun than concluidit and ratifiet in parliament concludit at Perth upoun the xxiij day of Februar, the yeir of God jM vC lxxij yeiris, and ratifiet in parliament haldin in the same moneth of Aprile jM vC lxxiij yeiris, to umquhile Schir James Balfour of Pettindreich, knicht, and als his hienes lettres under the gryte seill of the dait at Halyruidhous, the xxj day of December jM vC lxxxiij yeiris, and siclike ane decreit, ordinance and declaratioun maid and gevin be oure soverane lord and lordis of his hienes secreit counsall of the dait at Halyruidhous, the xxiiij day of Januar the yeir of God jM vC lxxxiij yeiris foirsaid, declarand and decernand the signatour upoun the quhilk the said uther lettre under his hienes grite seill past to haif bene justlie and ordourly grantit and ordaning the samin to be insert in the buikis of secreit counsall and to haif the strenth of ane decreit thairof, and alsua ordaning the said signatour and lettre to be past and exped throw the seillis as the same wes directit according to the ordour usit in sic caisis, as the said ordinance, decreit and declaratioun of the dait foirsaid at mair lenth beiris; togidder with the uther act maid in oure soverane lordis parliament haldin at Edinburgh, the xxij day of Maii the yeir of God jM vC lxxxiiij yeiris, and ane uther act maid in the parliament haldin in the grite hall of the palace of Linlythgw, the tent day of December the yeir of God jM vC fourescoir fyve yeiris, ratifeing and appreving the act immediatlie preceiding, all tending to this effect: that oure said soverane lord, with advise of his secreit counsall and thre estaittis of parliament, decernit and declairit that the process and sentence of foirfaltour led aganis the said umquhile Schir James for the allegeit crymes thairin contenit, wes deulie and ordourlie retreittit be the said pacificatioun maid and accordit upone at the burgh of Perth upoun the said xxiij day of Februar the yeir of God jM vC lxxij yeiris, and ratifiet and apprevit in the said parliament haldin at Halyruidhous the last day of Aprile the yeir of God jM vC lxxiij yeiris, and that the said umquhile Schir James, fra the tyme of the reduction thairof to his deceis, abaid and remanit oure said soverane lordis loyall and dewtifull subject, and thairfoir that his bairnis and his posteritie sould not be hurte nor harmit be the said proces and dome of foirfaltour led and gevin aganis him nor be act maid in oure soverane lordis parliament haldin at Edinburgh in the moneth of October, the yeir of God jM vC threscoir nyntene yeiris, be the quhilk the said umquhile Schir James bairnis and posteritie wes declairit to be unhable to brouk heretages, honouris, landis, rowmes or possessionis within this realme for the causis and ressonis contenit in the saidis actis, lettres, decreit and ordinances; quhilkis all and sindrie actis, and every ane of thame, in safar as the samin micht concerne the bairnis and posteritie of the said umquhile Schir James, oure said soverane lord and his saidis thre estaittis of parliament decernit and declairit to have bene and to be of nane avale, force nor effect; as als oure said soverane lord and his thre estaittis of parliament, be the tennour of the said act of the dait at Edinburgh, the said xxij day of Maii the yeir of God jM vC lxxxiiij yeiris, ratifiet and apprevit in the said parliament haldin at Linlythgw the tent day of December the yeir of God jM vC lxxxv yeris, decernit and declairit that the saidis bairnis and posteritie of the said umquhile Schir James ar and salbe able to bruik and jose all landis, heretageis, rowmes and possessionis acquirit or to be acquirit be thame and utheris to the quhilk thai may succeid be thair said umquhile fader, thair moder or onie of thame, or quhairunto everie ane micht succeid as airis to utheris or to quhatsumever utheris personis, siclyk and als frelie as ony uther oure soverane lordis lieges may conqueis and acquire landis, rowmes, heretage and possessionis or succeid thairto within this realme. And forder, his hienes, with advise and consent foirsaid, for him and his successouris, renuncit and dischargeit the actionis that his grace mycht haif or pretend aganis the said umquhile Schir James, his memorie, airis and posteritie for the causis contenit in the said sentence of foirfaltour, as is mair amplie contenit in the said lettre, under the greit seill, of the dait the xxj day of December, the yeir of God jM vC lxxxiij yeiris foirsaid; quhilk lettre, decreit and declaratioun oure said soverane lord, now efter his perfite age of xxj yeiris compleit, ratifies, apprevis and, for him and his successouris, perpetuallie confermis, willing and granting that the haill tennouris thairof be haldin as expressit in this present act, and ordanis the sam to be at lenth ingrossit thairin, gif neid beis, quhilkis his hienes and his thre estattis of parliament in pointis, claussis and circumstances thairof affermis to be veritable and trew and that thai salbe of sufficient force and effect in all tymes heirefter. As forther, his hienes and thre estaittis of this present parliament of new haif retreittit, rescindit, cassit, reducit and annullit and, be the force of this present act, of new retreittis, rescindis, cassis, reducis and annullis the said pretendit process of foirfaltour led aganis the said umquhile Schir James, with quhatsumevir actis following thaireftir dishabilling his bairnis and posteritie, with all that hes followit or may follow thairupon, and be thir presentis decernis and declairis thame and thair successouris to be als hable to bruik landis, honouris, heretage, rowmes and possessionis within this realme be conqueist or successioun as ony utheris may within the same and like as the said pretendit process of foirfaltour had nevir bene led and as the saidis actis maid in hurt of his posteritie had nevir bene maid. In lykmaner, oure said soverane lord, with express avise of his saidis thre estaittis of parliament, now efter his said perfite aige, of his proper motive and certane knawlege, of new renuncis all actioun, suit, clame and challange that his hienes, his predicessouris, him selff and his successouris had, hes or micht haif or ony wyse in tyme cuming may pretend aganis the said umquhile Schir James, his memorie, his relict, bairnis and posteritie, thair landis, heretages, guidis, geir, rowmes and possessionis for the allegeit crymes contenit in the said process of foirfaltour, or for ony uther actioun or caus bipast, quhilkis oure said soverane lord for him and his successouris simpliciter renuncis and discharges in all tyme cuming.
