†Oure soverane lord, with avise of his thrie estaittis in this present parliament, understanding that divers erllis, lordis, baronis and utheris his hienes frehaldaris, being infeft in thair landis and baronies with advocatioun, donatioun and richt of patronage of benefices, thay have annaliit certane of thair landis and baronies in wadsett under reversioun, throw the quhilkis alienationis the sa[...] landis and baronies hes remanit with the personis, ressaveris thairof, in wadsett ane hundreth yeiris and mair; in the mentyme, certane prelattis, abbottis or utheris ecclesiasticall personis haveand rycht or title cled thame with the saidis benefices and thairby quietlie intrudis thame in the possessoun and richt thairof, in default of the saidis patronis quha tuke na regaird thairto during the non redemptioun of the saidis wadsettis, quhairthrow the saidis just and lauchfull laic personis of the saidis benefices hes bene havelie prejugeit in thair richtis and presentatiounis of the samin in tymes bigane; thairfoir, for remeid thairof, it is statute and ordanit be our said soverane lord, with avise and consent of the saidis estaitis, and specialie providit be statute of this present parliament, that na possesioun apprehendit be bischoppis, abbottis, priouris or uther kirkmen of quhatsumever personages, vicarages, chaiplanreis, prebendareis or utheris benefices belangand to the saidis erles, lordis, baronis, frehaldaris or utheris laic personis, and quhairin thai ar specialie infeft be thair charteris, salbe onywayes hurtefull or prejudiciall to rychtis and titillis of the saidis laic personages efter redemptioun of thair landis and wodsettis, alsweill alreddy usit in tymes bipast as to be usit, bot that the saidis laic personis may alsfrelie brouke, joys and use thair saidis patronages and present qualifiet personis thairto at all tymes, siclike as the saidis kirkmen had never apprehendit possessoun of the samyn and notwithstanding thairof.
