†Anent the supplicatioun gevin in be Johnne, lord Hammyltoun and Johnne Hamyltoun of Drumry to the kingis majestie and lordis of articles, beirand that the said lord, with ane greit numer of his surname, kyne and freindis, hes bene, of lang tyme past, baneist and exilit of our soverane lordis presens and, be the injurie of tyme and occasioun of the civill trublis of sa lang continewance within this realme, hes sufferrit greit loss and damnage in the possessioun of thair guidis, landis and levingis, all frie repair and access to our said soverane lordis persoun, counsall and sessioun and utheris his majesteis offices being alluterlie refusit to thame for expeditioun of thair benefices; and speciallie the said Johnne Hammyltoun of Drumry, quha, being undoutit fewar of the landis of Craigfudeis and Myddlefudeis, quha, be rycht of his infeftment (albeit unconfirmit be malice of the tyme), wes in possessioun thairof fra the dait of the samyn, quhilk was the tent day of Julii, the yeir of God jM vC thriescoir sewin yeiris, he haifing maid instant sute be his freindis offering greit sowmes of mony at sindry and diverse tymes to our said soverane lordis thesaurar to haif the confirmatioun thairof exsped, unto the tyme that Patrik, now archiebischop of Sanctandrois, aganis the dewatie and professing of his calling, yea, eftir the said Johnne had obtenit the said signatour componit and exped, espying the tyme propir and commodious to mak his conques upoun the said Johnnes rowmes and possessionis of the saidis landis of Craigfudeis and Myddlefudeis, sett the samyn agane in few to his awin sone and spous and to certane utheris personis, the said Johnnis grittest inemeis for the tyme, procuring the laitest sett fewis to be first confirmit, that be the act of parliament procurit be him selff in prejudice of the said Johnnis few maid at Striviling, the xxv day of Julii the yeir of God jM vC lxxviij yeiris, anent double confirmatiounis of fewis, be the quhilk it is provydit that the first confirmatioun of the last few sall prevaill, the first few laitest confermit the said Johnnis infeftment cled with sa lang ane kyndes and possessioun mycht be maid unproffitable to him for evir; and thairfoir, to the end that sic fraud may be disapointit and the said Johnne reponit and reintegrat in the rycht of his infeftment, few and possessioun foirsaid, and for mony just and lauchtfull impedimentis quhilk he had to procure his confirmatioun at ony tyme befoir, our said soverane lord, with advise and consent of his thrie estaitis of this present parliament, hes statuit and ordanit and, be the tennour heirof, statutis, ordanis and declairis that it salbe lesum to the said Johnne Hammyltoun to purches confirmatioun of his said few, and that the samyn salbe als effectuall, valid and sufficient as gif the samyn had bene exped befoir ony uther few sett to† the said Patrik, archiebischop of Sanctandrois, to his spous, bairnis or quhatsumevir uther personis, nochtwithstanding the lait act of parliament maid anent double confirmationis of fewis or quhatsumevir uther law, statuit or constitutioun maid in the contrair, anent the quhilkis oure said soverane lord and estaitis foirsaidis dispensis thairanentis be thir presentis, reservand alwayis to sik as hes tane ony portion of the saidis landis in few of the said archiebischop, thair actionis of warrandice, as accordis of the law, for repetitioun of the sowmes of money ressavit be him for thair saidis fewis allanerlie; and thairfoir our said soverane lord, with advise foirsaid, ordanis his hienes thesaurer and his depuitis present and that salbe for the tyme to pas confirmatioun upoun the said Johnne Hammyltonis fewis without ony stop or impediment upoun his expensis, as accordis, for the ressonis and causis foirsaidis notourlie knawin to our said soverane lord and thrie estaitis, but prejudice of the said act of parliament in onywayis to utheris oure soverane lordis leigis, bot that thay may bruik the benefite thairof nochtwithstanding the premisis.†
