Erll of Rothes protestatioun

The quhilk day, in presence of the kingis majestie, his counsall and nobilitie presentlie convenit, Andro, erll of Rothes, lord Leslie, protestit that albeit he, amanges uthers, subscrivit the act contenand a declaratioun gevin be the nobilitie and estaittes convenit in the moneth of [...] lastbipast, of gude serrvice done be certan of the nobilitie and utheris in taking of armes and using of a restraint and captivitie of his majesteis persoun at Ruthven and certane uther pairtes, and allowing and appreving the samyn, with all thingis that followit thairupoun, yit wes the same, his subscriptioun, past and gevin to the said act onlie at his majesties speceall commandment and directioun, aganes his will and not in takin of his consent and approbatioun of the said act and deid, the same being disallowit be his awin declaratioun utterit to his hienes selff immediatlie efter the attempting of the samyn at Sanctjohnestoun, and thairfoir that na pane, cryme nor dangeare micht be imput to him for the samyn be onie maner of way in tyme cuming; quhilk protestatioun his majestie and the saides lordes admittit.
