Ratificatioun of the fair of Uchtirardour

Oure soverane lord and thrie estaitis of this present parliament, understanding that the burgh of Uchtirardour is of auld erectit in ane frie burgh regall and that the samin is far distant fra the sey portis and hes not usit fairis nor mercat dayis, the samin is becumin decayit and the inhabitantis thairof pure sua that thai ar not abill to intertene the civill ordour of ane frie burgh nor yit execute sic justice as thay micht in the cuntrie about, being oppressit diverse tymes be brokin men and lymmeris quha makis incursiones and hereis mony cuntrey men and manassis oftymes the inhabitantis of the said toun and burgh; and thairfoir oure said soverane lord, with avise foirsaid, for help of the commoun welth of the said burgh and support of the inhabitantis thairof, hes gevin and grantit, lyk as his hienes, with avise foirsaidis, gevis and grantis licence, fredome and libertie to the provest, bailleis, inhabitantis and communitie of the said burgh of Uchtirardour to hald yearlie ane frie fair and mercat day upoun the xxv day of November, beginnand the samin upoun the xxv day of November nixtocum, and to continew yeirlie thairefter in all tymes cuming, declarand expreslie be thir presentis that all oure soverane lordis liegeis may resort and repair thairto for bying and selling of all guidis and merchandice thairintill, quhairby the polacie of the said burgh may the better incres and that the liegeis also may haif the better eisment and intertenyment for decoratioun of the realme; and ordanis lettres of publicatioun to be direct heirupoun in forme as effeiris.
