Parliamentum excellentissimi principis Jacobi sexti Scotorum regis tentum apud Edinburgh vicesimo sexto die mensis Octobris anno Domini millesimo quingentesimo octuagesimo primo per dominos commissarios subscriptos viz Jacobum comitem Aranie dominum Hammiltoun etc., Alexandrum Clark prepositum de Edinburgh Henricum Adamesoun commissarium de Peirth et magistrum Robertum Creychtoun de Eliok, advocatum regium specialiter constitutos per commissionem dicti supremi domini nostri regis, unacum officiariis parliamenti ut in die precedente.

Judicial proceeding: summons of treason

The quhilk day comperit Maistir Robert Creychtoun of Eliok, advocat to our soverane lord, and produceit ane summondis of treassoun dewlie execute and indorsate, rasit at the instance of oure soverane lord and his hienes justice, aganis Thomas Roresoun of Bardannoch for certane crymes of treassoun and lesemajestie committit be him, quhairbye he was summond to compeir this instant day, with continewatioun of dayes, as at mair lenth is contenit in the said summondis; and that he instantlie producit Oswall Portar, messinger, executor of the said summondis, with Alexander Fergussone and George Fergussone, his witnesses insert in the executioun thairof, quha maid faith that the samyn indorsatioun was just and trew in the self as it proportis; and siclyke producit our soverane lordis lettres, past under his hienes subscriptioun and signet, off the dait the thrid day of October instant, quhairthrow the said Thomas was relaxit fra all proces of horne led aganis him for quhatsumevir caus or occasioun preceding the dait of the saidis lettres, quhilkis lettres was execute upoun the nynt day of the said moneth of October be the said Oswall Portar, messinger, and the said Thomas relaxit thairwith at the marcat croce of Drumfreis and the wand of peax deliverit to him, as at mair lenth is contenit in the saidis lettres and executiones thairof, to the effect the said Thomas mycht compeir and defend in the said summondis dewlie as effeirit; quhairupoun the said advocat askit instrumentis and fordar offerit him to preif the pointtis of his said summondis, safar as the samyn mycht be prowin, be witnesses, and askit instrumentis that he hade witnesses presentlie to produce for prewing thairof.
