Forsamekle as it apperis the victuall salbe skant this present yeir, and undirstanding that thair is ane greit quantitie of malt consumit in the haill partis of this realme be making of aquavitie, quhilk is ane greit occasioun of the derth within the samin, for remeid quhairof, it is statute and ordanit be the kingis majestie, with avise of his thrie estaitis in this present parliament, that na maner of persone within burgh or land, nor utheris quhatsumevir, mak, brew nor stell ony aquavitie fra the first day of December approcheand quhill the first day of October in the yeir of God jM vC lxxx yeiris undir the pane of confiscatioun of the said aquavitie and breking of the haill lowmes of the makaris, brewaris and stellaris thairof; providing alwayis that it salbe lesum to everie erle, lord, baroun or gentleman, or utheris of sic degre, to mak, brew and stell the said aquavitie of thair awin malt and stuff within thair awin houses, to thair awin use and thair freindis; and ordanis the schireffis of the schires, provestis and baillies of burrowis, stewartis, baillies of royaltie and regaliteis and utheris ordiner jugeis within this realme to put this present act to executioun in all poyntis efter the forme and tennour thairof.
