Anent the supplicatioun gevin in be Jeane Discheingtoun, youngest dochtir and ane of the tua airis of umquhile Paull Discheingtoun, fear of Ardross, makand mentioun that quhair efter the deceis of hir said umquhile fader, hir waird and mariage became to the dispositioun of umquhile James, duke of Chastellerault, erle of Arrane, lord Hammyltoun, protectour and governour of this realme for the tyme, quha alsua obtenit possessioun of hir persone being then ane infant; and befoir she had discretioun or conference with hir freindis to chies ane pairtie aggreable, she wes mariit upoun Gawin Hammiltoun, sumtyme of Reploch, be the space xv yeiris syne, lang befoir ony cryme committit be him, quhairwith he is now chairget. Nochttheles, upoun the occasioun of his unhappie being at Striveling the tyme of the deceis of oure said soverane lordis dearest gudesir, hir said husband is now fugitive, his leving and all the portioun of land quhilk fell to hir be deceis of hir said umquhile father is becum in oure said soverane lordis handis, the said Jeane laitlie falling to a small portioun thairof be compositioun be the advise of freindis, viz., the manys of Kirkpotie, with mylne thairof, the landis of Tollennoquheis and Dewglie, with the myln thairof, as the decreit arbitrall and contract of divisioun beiris, upoun the quhilk she presentit hir supplicatioun to oure said soverane lord and lordis foirsaidis, quhairof she ressavit his gracious ansuer ordaning hir to produce the said decreit arbitrall and contract of divisioun befoir his hienes advocat to be sene and considerate, that it being knawin in particular quhat landis suld appertene to hir properlie, thairby oure said soverane lord, with avise of the lordis foirsaidis, wald of mercie and piety dispone the same to hir for hir lyftyme, howsonne the same suld becum in his hienes handis. According to the quhilk ordinance, she producit the said decreit and contract unto his majesties advocat, quha hes considerit thame at lenth, and thairby undirstandis the landis foirsaidis to appertene to hir properlie, as he being requirit will manifest to his hienes maist humily, thairfoir beseiking his majestie to have consideratioun of hir former supplicatioun and deliverance gevin thairupoun, and that his hienes of his mercie and pietie will dispone the saidis landis off hir said umquhile fatheris leving pertenyng to hir properlie as said is, and proffittis thairof for all the dayis of hir lyftyme, to hir sustentatioun, that is becum of honnest parentis, and to grant hir power be hir selff and hir procuratoris in hir name to stand in jugement, and to persew and defend all actionis concerning hir properlie, specialie towart hir securitie of the saidis landis and that without consent of hir said husband, notwithstanding his inhabilitie to authorize hir in hir said persute or defence, and to mak ane act of parliament thairupoun, and his hienes and his estaitis to interpone thair auctoritie thairto for the said Jeanis better securitie as at mair lenth is contenit in the said supplicatioun. Quhilk being sene and considerit be the kingis majestie and estaitis foirsaidis, oure soverane lord, of his speciall mercie, clemency and pety, with avise of his saidis thrie estaitis of this present parliament, hes disponit and disponis to the said Jeane the saidis landis of Kirkpoty, with the myln, liand within the schirefdome of Perth, and the landis of Dewgleis and Tollennoquheis, with the myln thairof, liand within the schirefdome of Kynross, with all thair houses, places, mylnis, partis and pendicles thairof, quhilkis wes ane pairt of hir said umquhile fatheris leving pertening to hir in partaige and proffittis thairof for all the dayis of hir lyftyme, to hir sustentatioun, quha is becum of honest parentis. Anent the supplicatioun gevin in be dame Margret Lyoun, countesse of Cassillis, makand mentioun that quhair it plesit oure soverane lord of pietie and compassioun to gif and grant to hir, hir airis, assignais not being of the blude nor surename of Johnne Hammyltoun, sumtyme commendatair of Abirbrothok, now hir spous, the eschaet of all and sindrie guidis, geir, jowellis and abuilyementis properlie appertenyng to his awin persone, as alsua of all and sindrie mailis, fermes, canys, custumes, rentis, dewiteis of all landis, lordshippis, baronyes, mylnis, woddis, fyscheingis, takkis, steding, rowmes, possessionis, alsweill of landis as utheris, and debtis quhatsumevir quhilkis properlie pertenit to hir be ressone of conjunctfie, lyverent, terce, tak, assedatioun or utherwyse, be quhatsumevir richt or title acquirit be hir befoir the contracting of mariage with the said commendatair and not being of his leving, and now pertening to oure soverane lord and being in his hienes handis be ressone of eschaet for the caus foirsaid, or ony uther caus or occasioun preceding the dait of the saidis lettres of gift of all yeiris and termes bigane restand awand, and siclike of all yeiris and termes to cum during his hienes will, with pouer and certane pervilegis specialie expressit in the said gift as the samyn of the dait at the castell of Striviling, the xxviij day of Junii, the yeir of God jM vC lxxix yeiris, and of his hienes regnne the tuelft yeir, at mair lenth beris, maist humily requiring the same gift to be confermit and his majesties grace and favour thairin contenit to be continewit to hir during hir lyftyme be his hienes, with avise of his estaitis in this present parliament. Anent the supplicatioun gevin in be Margret Cunynghame, relicte of umquhile James Cochrane of Barbachlaw and now spous to James Mureheid of Lauchop, makand mentioun that quhair mairiage wes compleit betuix the said James Mureheid and hir, she havand na knawlege of ony cryme or offence done be him aganis oure soverane lordis auctoritie or lawis in onywis, and now beand summond amangis certane utheris for certane crymes laid to thar charge pertenit in the summondis of tressone direct thairupoun, sic is the rigour of the law that the said Margret wilbe excludit fra the small rent and leving pertening to hir throw hir said umquhile first husband gif the forfaltour proceid aganis the said James, hir last spous, to hir utter wrak, withhout oure soverane lordis piety and mercie be extendit towardis hir; and seing she is innocent of all the crymes laid to the said Jamis, hir spous, she hes assurit hoip and confidence in his majesties clemencie and favour to be schawin to hir as hes bene alrady extendit to utheris being in the like miserie and calamitie, sen she hes na uther thing to leif on bot that small rent pertening to hir said umquhile first husband; heirfoir beseikand oure said soverane lord and lordis of articles to have consideratioun heirof and of this hir miserable state and to tak sic gude ordour as she may peceably bruik and jois all landis and possessionis apertening to hir properlie be deceis of hir said umquhile spous, with the guidis and plenessing being thairin, during hir lyftyme, to hir necessar use and sustentatioun, and that she be not prejuget nor hurt in the brouking and using thairof throw the forfaltour to be led aganis hir said spous, and to caus ane act to be maid thairupoun as effeiris, with provision and conditioun that the said James, hir spous, sall nawise be helpit be hir said leving, and that she sall nawise resset, supplie, assist nor intercommooun with ony declarit, or that heirefter salhappyne to be declarit tratouris, as culpable and gilty of the murtheris perpetrat in the personis of oure soverane lordis umquhile father and tua regentis as at mair lenth is contenit in the said supplicatioun.
