Anent the annulling of the actis of parliament maid aganis God, his word and mantenance of idolatrie in ony tymes bypast

Item, our soverane lord, with avise of his derrest regent and thre estatis of this present parliament, ratifyis and apprevis the act underwrittin maid in the parliament haldin at Edinburgh, the xxiiij day of August, the yeir of God ane thousand fyve hundreth lx yeiris, and of new in this present parliament statutis and ordanis the said act to be as a perpetuall law to all our soverane lordis liegis in all tymes cuming, of the quhilk the tennour followis: The quilk day, forsamekle as thair hes bene divers and sindrie actis of parliament maid in King James the First, Secund, Thrid, Feird and Fyft tymes, kingis of Scotland for the tyme, and als in oure soverane ladeis tyme, not aggreing with Godis haly worde, and be thame divers personis tuik occasioun to mantene idolatrie and superstitioun within the kirk of God and repressing of sic personis as wer professouris of the said worde, quhair throw divers innocentis did suffer; and for eschewing of sic inconvenientis in tyme cuming, the thre estatis of parliament hes annullit and declarit all sic actis maid in tymes bypast not aggreing with Godis word, and now contrare to the Confessioun of Faith, according to the said worde publist in this parliament, to be of nane availl, force nor effect; and decernis the said actis, and everie ane of thame, to have na effect nor strenth in tyme to cum, bot the samin to be abolist and extinct for ever in sa far as ony of the foirsaidis actis ar repugnant and contrare to the Confessioune of Faith and worde of God foirsaid, ratifyit and apprevit be the estatis in this present parliament; and thairfoir decernis and ordanis the contravenaris of the samin act in ony tyme heirefter to be puneist according to the lawis; of the quhilk Confessioun of the Faith the tennour followis.
