Item, our soverane lord, with avise of his derrest regent and thre estatis of this present parliament, ratifyis and apprevis the act underwrittin maid in the parliament haldin at Edinburgh, the xxiiij day of August, the yeir of God ane thousand fyve hundreth and thre scoir yeiris, and of new in this present parliament statutis and ordanis the said act to be as ane perpetuall law to all our soverane lordis liegis in all tymes cuming, off the quhilk the tennour followis: Item, the thre estatis, understanding that the jurisdictioune and authoritie of the bischop of Rome, callit the paip, usit within this realme in tymes bypast, hes not onlie bene contumelious to the eternall God, bot also verray hurtfull and prejudiciall to our soveranis authoritie and commoun weill of this realme; thairfoir hes statute and ordanit that the bischop of Rome, callit the paip, have na jurisdictioun nor authoritie within this realme in ony tyme coming, and that nane of our said soveranis subjectis in ony tymes heirefter sute or desyre tytle or rycht of the said bischop of Rome, or his sait, to ony thing within this realme under the panis of barratrie, that is to say, proscriptioun, baneisment and never to bruik honour, office nor dignitie within this realme; and the contravenaris heirof to be callit befoir the justice or his deputis, or befoir the lordis of the sessioun, and puneist thairfoir conforme to the lawis of this realme, and the furnisaris of thame with fynance of money and purchessaris of thair tytle of rycht, or mantenaris or defendaris of thame, sall incur the samin panis; and that na bischop nor uther prelate of this realme use ony jurisdictioun in tyme cuming be the said bischop of Rome's authoritie, under the pane foirsaid; and, thairfoir, of new decernis and ordanis the contravenaris of the samin in ony tyme heirefter to be puneist according to the panis in the foirsaid act abone rehersit.
