The parliament of the most excellent prince and lord James V, by the grace of God king of Scots, held and begun at Edinburgh on 2 March 1540 [1541] by the noble and potent lords Archibald [Campbell], earl of Argyll, justiciar, James [Hamilton], earl of Arran, Gilbert [Kennedy], earl of Cassilis, John [Erskine], lord Erskine, William [Ruthven], lord Ruthven, Walter [Lindsay], lord St John, Sir Thomas Erskine of Brechin [and Halton], secretary, Master James Foulis of Colinton, clerk register, with William [Keith], earl Marischal, Patrick Baron [of Spittalfield], deputy of [William Hay, earl of Erroll], constable, Robert Black, sergeant, and John Wilkin, dempster.

On the which day the present court of parliament was continued in the form and effect which it is now, with all actions pending therein, until 9 March next to come, without prejudice of any party.

On the which day Christina Wardlaw, widow of the late Robert Leslie, Master Andrew Leslie, George Leslie, Master John Leslie, Gilbert Leslie, Elizabeth Leslie and Thomas Hamilton, her spouse, for his interest, [...] Leslie, nun, sons and daughters of the late Robert, often called by royal summons under testimony of the great seal of the realm directed thereon to answer personally to our supreme lord the king or his justiciar in the present parliament, and for seeing and hearing the said late Robert discerned to have incurred the crime of lese-majesty while he lived by the three estates for certain treasonous actions committed by him, and not compearing, it was continued to 9 March next to come, with continuation of days, in the form and effect that it is now, without prejudice of the parties.

On the which day Margaret Forrester, widow of the late James Colville of Easter Wemyss, James Colville, son and alleged heir of James, Alison Colville, daughter of James, and the other widows, sons and daughters of the late James having interest, often called by royal summons under testimony of the great seal of the realm directed thereon to answer personally to our supreme lord the king or his justiciar in the present parliament, and for seeing and hearing the said late James discerned to have incurred the crime of lese-majesty while he lived by the three estates for certain treasonous actions committed by him, and Margaret not compearing, and James and Alison compearing, it was continued to 9 March next to come, with continuation of days, in the form and effect that it is now, without prejudice of the parties.

The which day compeared Carrick pursuivant and made oath that the said endorsements made by him upon Margaret Forrester, widow of the late James Colville of Easter Wemyss, James Colville, son to the said late James, and others, his bairns, was just and true and proved the same sufficiently by Alexander Hutton, messenger, John Cargill, John Rannie and John Kerry, with diverse others.
