Compeared Patrick Wemyss of Pittendreich, captain of the castle of Inchgarvie, and desired that our sovereign lord, now in his minority, would, by the advice of the three estates of parliament, provide for the sure keeping of the said castle because the Laird of Dundas claims the same pertains to him, protesting that whatever happens therein nothing should be laid to be in charge in time to come. Compeared William Carmichael and David Rollock, burgess of Dundee, and swore that they should faithfully and truly minister in the office of sheriffship as sheriffs of Brechin in that part, regarding the serving of brieves impetrated by John Lyon, the son and heir of the late David Lyon, of certain tenements, acres and lands lying within the said city of Brechin, and to sit in the tolbooth of Dundee, as in Brechin, after the tenor of the said commission. Sir Alexander Menzies of that Ilk, knight, compeared and alleged that Thomas Douglas, by the assistance and maintenance of [James Douglas], laird of Drumlanrig, had taken the house of Enoch and occupies his lands without any just title, protesting, therefore, that he might have his action against the said laird since the said Thomas remains with him and remained before the taking of the said house. Legislation: private acts

Our sovereign lord, with the advice and consent of his three estates of the realm, ratifies, approves and confirms the charter and infeftment made to Robert Maxwell of Calderwood and Isobel Elphinstone, his spouse, of certain lands lying in the lordship of Stewarton within the bailiary of Cunninghame in feuferme, as at more length is contained in the charter thereupon etc., in all points and articles after the form and tenor of the same, of the date 14 January 1524 [1525] etc.

Ratifies and approves etc. the gift made to his familiar servant William Hamilton of Macnairston, his heirs and assignees, of the ward of the lands which pertained to the late Patrick Houston of that Ilk, with the non-entry, relief and marriage of the heir, or heirs etc., in all points after the form and tenor of the said gift made thereupon.

Our sovereign lord, with the advice of his three estates in the parliament, expressly annuls and discharges the effect and tenor of the charter and infeftment of the six merk land of Clerkland and mill thereof, and forty shillings worth of the lands of Cutstraw, lying in the bailiary of Cunninghame within the lordship of Stewarton, made to Mungo Muir of Rowallan because his grace was circumvented in that, the same being set of before in feuferme to his beloved familiar servant Henry Kempt by his charter under the great seal and confirmed in the last parliament.
