In the first, for the honour of God and the Holy Kirk, our sovereign lord ordains that the freedom, liberties, privilege and immunities of the Holy Kirk and other spiritual persons be observed and kept in honour, worship and dignity for the time of our sovereign lord that now is, such as has been in the time of his most noble progenitors of good mind of before.

Item, the three estates of the realm gathered in this present parliament, seeing and understanding that our sovereign lord is, by the grace of God, now come to his age of 14 years, therefore declare and decree that his royal authority is in his own hands and is to be exercised and used by his highness in time to come throughout his realm, lieges and subjects, and declare that all other authority given and used in times past is now to be expired and to cease in times coming etc.
