Procedure: commission to treat for peace with England

Item, it is devised and ordained that a commission be made under the great seal making one most reverend father in God Gavin [Dunbar, younger], archbishop of Glasgow, Archibald [Douglas], earl of Angus, lord Douglas, warden and lieutenant of the East and Middle Marches, George [Crichton], abbot of Holyroodhouse, Robert [Shaw], abbot of Paisley, [Sir] William Scott of Balwearie, knight, and Master Adam Otterburn of Auldhame [and Reidhall], advocate to our sovereign lord, commissioners, giving them, or any four or three of them, power to meet the commissioners of England for the treating of peace after the tenor of the articles made thereupon. And the said commission is to be extended in the most ample and large form, and with power in the same to the said commissioners to make and take redress of all manner of outrages committed by the lieges of either of the realms against each other in times bygone, both by sea and by land, and to meet hereupon at such days and places as shall be thought expedient.
