Item, forsamekle as it was statute and ordanit of before that na talloune suld be had furth of the realme for the eschewing of derth of the samin, nottheles the talloune is caryit furth in grett quantite, quhilk has rasit excedand derth in the cuntre, puttand the stane of talloune to ane double price or abone, tharefore, it is statute and ordanit in this present parliament that na persoune nor personis tak upoune hand in tyme tocum to cary ony talloune furth of the realme under the pane of tinsale of all thair gudis movable cumand incontrar hereof, and that all custumaris at every port of the realme quhair schippis ar frauchtit mak sercheouris to serche and seke all schippis, and quhaire ony talloune beis schippit or brocht to the schippis to be caryit furth of the realm, to eschete the samin, that is to say, that ane haif to thair awine use that apprehendis the talloune and that uther haif to oure soverane lordis use; and that the custumaris mak compt hereupoune yeirlie in the chekker and als that thai adverteis oure soverane lordis thesaurar of the personis, awnaris of sic talloune eschetit, sua that he may inbring the remanent of thair gudis movable to oure soverane lordis use for thair contemptioune; and in likwise, that na maner of man, fleschar nor utheris to burgh nor to land tak upoune hand to rynd, melt nor barrell talch under the pane of tinsale of all thair gudis.

In the first, for the honour of God and Halikirk, oure soverane lord, with avise of the thre estatis, ordanis that the fredomes, liberteis, privelegis and immuniteis of Halikirk and all spirituale personis be observit and kepit in honour, worschip and dignite for the tyme of oure soverane lord that now is, lik as has bene in the tyme of his maist noble progenitoris of gude mynd of before, with this additioune: that forsamekle as quhene prelaciis, sic as bischoprikis or abbacyis, happinnis to vaik, the nominatioune thereof pertenis to oure soverane lord and the provisioune of the samin to oure haly fader the paip, nevertheles, evill disposit personis in trublus tymes has putt handis and takin bischoppis castellis, palicis and fortalices at thair awne hand, be thair awine autorite and but oure soverane lordis command, consent or lettrez at tymes quhene bischoprikis vaikis and utheris, and inlikwise enteris in abbayis and takis thame and puttis the samin in keping in secular mennis handis but consent, command or lettrez of the kingis grace and als but command, avise or desire of the conventis of sic abbayis, in high displessour of God almychtie, oure haly fader the paip and in his contemptioune of oure soverane lordis autorite, quhairthrow the kirk and kirkmen ar hevelie hurt and dampnagit; tharfore, it is statute and ordanit in this present parliament that quhatsumever persoune or persounis in ony tyme tocum takkis ony bischoppis places, castellis or strenthis, or enteres be thare awine autorite in abbayis, to hald tha places but oure soverane lordis command, lettres or chargis or desire of the conventis therof at tymes quhene sic bischoprikis or abbacyis vaikis, or any uther tyme, tha nocht vaikand, but the kingis autorite, thai sall incure the cryme of tresoune and lese majestie and salbe callit tharefor at the kingis plessour upoune thair forfaltour, and to tyne thair lifis, landis, heretagis and gudis, movable and unmovable, honour and officis, becaus the kingis grace is haldin and bundin to defend Halikirk and kirkmen in thair just causis.

Item, oure soverane lord hes ordanit that the actis of parliament maid be his hienes be publist outhrowith all his realme and that all schireffis, stewartis, ballies, provestis and ballies of burrowis and utheris his liegis may have the copyis therof and pretend na ignorance throw misknawing of the samin, has ordanit his clerk of registri to mak ane auctenty extracte and copy of all the saidis actis safar as concernis the commoune wele under his subscriptioune manual, to be imprentit be quhat prentar it sall pleise the said clerk of registri to cheise, and it sall nocht be lesum to ony uther prentar nor writar to imprent nor write the samin within this realme or outwith the samin, or bring hame to be sauld, for the space of vj yeris nixt tocum, under the pane of confiscatioune of the samin, providing alwayis that the said prentar to be chosin be the said clerk of registri as said is have oure said soverane lordis speciale licence thairto.
