Quo die compuerunt in judicio Willelmus Stratherne et Alexander Cunynghame nuncii vicecomites in hac parte et presentarunt quandam summonationem regis sub testimonio magni sigilli regei sibi directe super summonatione Jacobi Douglas de Parkheid coram dicta domino nostro rege et tribus regni statibus in presenti parliamento congregatis, cuius summonitionis tenor sequitur et est talis:
Jacobus, Dei gracia rex Scotorum, dilectis nostris Leoni regi armorum, Albany, Ros', Rothissay heraldis, Jacobo Jhonestoun, Johanni Perduvyn, Roberto Blak, Thome Hammiltoun', clavigeris, Ormond', Bute, Dingvale, Unicorne, Carrik, signiferis, Archibaldo Hoge, Johanni Gourlay, Willelmo Stratherne, Alexandro Cunyngham, nunciis, et eorum cuilibet conjunctim et divisim vicecomitibus nostris in hac parte, salutem. Mandamus vobis et precipimus quatenus summoneatis legitime et peremptorie coram testibus Jacobum Douglas de Parkheid, personaliter si eius presentiam commode habere poteritis, alioquin per publicam proclamationem apud cruces forales burgorum nostrorum de Edinburgh et Lanerk, quod compareat coram nobis seu justiciario nostro in nostro parliamento infra dictum nostrum burgum de Edinburgh in pretorio eiusdem proxime tenendo die quarto mensis Decembris proxime futuro hora causarum cum continuatione dierum ad respondendum nobis seu nostro justiciario pro sua proditoria conspiratione in nostram necem unacum Archibaldo, olim Angusie comite, Georgio Douglas, eius fratre, et Archibaldo Douglas, olim de Kilspinde, nostris rebellibus and proditoribus per sentenciam forisfacture declaratis, et hoc infra fortilicium de Temtalloun' post quandam conventionem inter dictum Jacobum et quondam Archibaldum Douglas cum quondam Jacobo Hammiltoun' de Fynnart, milite, habetam apud capellam Sancti Leonardi sitam prope burgum nostrum de Edinbur', post quamquidem conventionem dictus Jacobus cum primum applicuit dicto fortilicio de Temtalloun' ipse exposuit et tractauit cum dictis Archibaldo, quondam Angusie, comite, et Georgio, eius fratre, modem quo huismodi horrendam necem faciliter perficere poterant et de quaquidem conspiratione dictus quondam Jacobus Hammiltoun' de Fynnart, miles, fuit postea convictus ac mortis sentencia justissime passus. Necnon et dictum Jacobum pro suis proditoriis consilio, auxilio, favore habitis et prestitis dictis rebellibus et proditoribus sententialiter ut supra declaratis affociando sese et cohabitando, solicitando, procurando et agendo cum eisdem infra partes Anglie omnia ea que ad nostrum nostrorumque regni et ligeorum eversionem et omnimodam exterminationem tendere possunt, et pro nonnullis aliis actionibus et criminibus lese majestatis contra nos per eundem Jacobum perpetratis. Ac eidem dictis die et loco cum dicta continuatione dierum proponendis et extendendis juri parentibus et super huiusmodi judicium nostrum et nostri parliamenti secundum leges regni nostri expectand' et subeund' dictum videlicet Jacobum ad videndum et audiendum se crimina lese nostre majestatis incurrisse per tres status regni nostri decerni, et propteria eius bona mobilia et immobilia terras et alias res mobiles sibi pertinentis nobis confiscari et pro perpetuo nobiscum in proprietate remanere, personamque eiusdem penam proditionis et ultimi supplicii a legibus regni nostri inflictam subire et ulterius in premissis respondend' et juri parend' intiman' dicto Jacobo quod sive dictis die et loco cum dicta continuatione dierum compuerit sive non nos et dictus noster justiciarius nichilominus in premissis justitia mediante procedemus et procedet. Et presentes litteras debite executas et indorsatas earundem latori reddatis et vos qui executi presentes fueritis sitis ibidem dictis die et loco coram nobis aut nostro justiciario portantes vobiscum vestre summonitionis testimonium in scriptis seu idoneos testes ad quod faciendum vobis et vestrum cuilibet vicecomitibus nostris in hac parte conjunctim et divisim plenariam committimus potestatem. Post cuiusquidem summonitionis lecturam predicti vicecomites in hac parte probaverunt in presenti parliamento dictam summonitionem legitime executam per indorsationes suas et certos testes in eisdem indorsationibus contentos et in judicio ad hoc inibi per ipsos vicecomites productos et juratos videlicet Rothissay heraldum, Georgium Gude, Johannen Mowat, Thomam Brentoun' et Jacobum Chancelar, quarum indorsation' tenores sequuntur et sunt tales.
The xxiiij day of September the yeir of God jM vC xl yeris, I, William Stratherne, messinger, ane of the schireffis in that part within constitute, past at the command of thir our soverane lordis lettres of summondis and summond, warnit and chargit James Douglas of Parkheid, be oppin proclamatioune at the market croce of Edinburgh, to compere befor our soverane lordis justice in his hienes parliament to be haldin day and place within writtin, with continuatioune of dayis, to ansuer to his grace and his said justice in his name, to all punctis of tressoune and articulis contenit in thir his hienes lettres of summondis and eftir the forme, tenour and effecte of the samyn. This I did befor thir witnes: Rothissay herald, George Gude, James Bannatyne, Nicol Carncors and George Leithe with utheris diverse. And for the mair witnessing to this my executioune, my signet is affixt, the ferd day of October, the yeir of God abone writtin.
