In the first, for honour of God and Halikirk, our soverane lord ordanis that the fredome, liberteis, privilege and immunteis of Halykirk and uther spirituale persounes be observit and kepit in honour, worschip and dignitie for the tyme of oure soverane lord that now is, lik as has bene in the tyme of his mast noble progenitouris of gud mynde off before.

Item, the thre estatis of the realm gaderit in this present parliament, seing and understanding that oure soverane lord is, be the grace of God, now cumin to his aige of xiiij yeris, therfor declaris and decernis that his auctoritie riale is in his awne handis and to be exercit and usit be his hienes in tyme tocum out throw his realm, liegis and subditis, and decernis all uther auctoritie gevin and usit in tymes bipast now to be expirit and ceise in tymes cuming etc.

The kingis grace, understanding the lang and trew service done to his grace, his grantschir and fader, quham God assolye, be his auld and auld servand Schir Jhone Quhyte, and is throw his lang service brocht in age, therfor his grace, with avise and consent of the thre estatis of his realm in this present parliament, will that the said Sir Jhone stand in siclik service in his charcelary under his selis be him self and his servandis, wrytaris to him as he has done in all tymes bigane, and na uther to be admittit tharto during his liftyme, for the causis forsaid.

Item, it is statute and ordanit in this present parliament that, becaus oure soverane lord, with avise of his derrest moder, the quene, and lordis of his consale than being with him for the tyme, wrait his gracius lettrez of commendatioune of the abbacy of Melrose, than vacand, for his devote and weil belovit oratour Dene Jhone Maxwell, abbot of Dundrynane, to be promovit to the said abbacy of Melrose, and now his hienes is informit that diverse evill disposit persounes be surreptioune has gottin his lettrez by his knawlege, he not knawand therof, directit to oure said haly fader the paip, for Maister Andro Dury to be promovit to the said abbacy of Melrose, directe contrare to the lettrez gevin of before to his said devote oratoure, causand the papis halynes to understand the variance of the kingis grace and the lordis of his counsale, direckand diverse lettrez contratrius in one mater; therfor oure soverane lord, now being at his perfite age, declaris all sic lettrez directe in favouris of the said Maister Andro Dury procedit be surreptioune and by his knawlege and witting, and as apperis be the purchessaris of the saidis lettrez to his grace schame and sclander and the weil avisit lordis of his counsale in sa fer as in thaim was, for the quhilk he revokis and adnullis all sic lettrez in this present parliament gevin in favour of the said Maister Andro and will at thai be of nane avale, force nor effecte in tyme tocum; and ratifyis and apprevis the lettrez gevin in favouris of his said devote oratour the abbot of Dundrynane, and that new lettrez be gevin in favoris of him geif neid be, his grace now being at his perfite age, with auctoritie of his thre estatis of parliament, becaus his grace has of before declarit his mynde in the said mater to the effecte forsaid apone oure said haly fadere the papis breif send to his grace in that behalf and, therfor, inlikwise ratifyis and apprevis his said declaratioune therof in all punctis.
