In presens of the saidis lordis comperit Robert Bertoune of Ovirberntoune, comptrollare, and schew how the expense of the kingis houshald is risin sa gret that his propirtie may nocht beire the samin, and daly apperis to rise gretare becaus na ordouris put tharto be the lordis havand auctoritie of the samin, certifying to the lordis forsaid that without thai providit sum gud ordour and reule to his houshald, it is not possible that his grace may be sustenit to his honour as efferis. Protestand, therfore, that sene he has oft and mony tymes advertist the lordis heirof, prayand thair lordis to avise and conclude ane gud and honorable way heirintill for the kingis honour, that quhat ever mycht happin tocum therthrow in tyme tocum suld nocht be laid to his charge sene he has done his exacte diligence, spendit his awne geire and may sustene na forrare, therupone askit instrumentis, ane or ma testibus dominis ut supra.
