The parliament of the most excellent prince and our most dread lord, the lord James IV, by the grace of God most illustrious king of Scots, held and begun at Edinburgh on Monday 6 October 1488, on which day, with the suits being called and the court constituted, the absentees are made known in the rolls, [and] the suits [called] by the underwritten commissioners, namely, Colin [Campbell], earl of Argyll, lord Campbell and Lorne, chancellor of Scotland; Patrick [Hepburn], lord Hailes, master of our supreme lord the king's household; Robert [Lyle], lord Lyle, great justiciar of Scotland; Alexander Home of that Ilk, great chamberlain of Scotland; William Knollis, preceptor of Torphichen, knight, treasurer; and many other of the supreme lord the king's commissioners in this matter, as remaining in the commission, according to the acts.

On which day James [Stewart], earl of Buchan, being often called by royal summons and the tenor of the same directed thereupon under the testimony of the royal great seal, to answer to our said lord the king in the present parliament for certain treasonable actions contained in the said summons and according to the tenor of the same, which James, earl of Buchan being often called and not compearing, the lords commissioners continued the said cause of summons to the following day at the tenth hour, with continuation of days, in the same form and effect as now is, without prejudice to parties.
