Judicial proceedings: falsed dooms

On the 27 November, the king being present with the three estates of the realm gathered in the said parliament, the underwritten sentences and judgements were given and promulgated by the mouth of David Dempster of Careston, dempster of the said parliament, in the following form.

This court of parliament shows for law and I give for doom that the judgement given in the sheriff court of Dumfries by the mouth of Nicol Thomson, dempster and suitor of the said court, before David Graham of Thornhuke, sheriff in that part, for Robert Charteris of Amisfield and against Walter Porter and Elizabeth of Douglas, his mother, and appealed by Master Adam of Cockburn, advocate to the said Walter, on 24 July 1467 was well given and wrongly appealed, and the said Walter and Elizabeth [are] in amercement for each suitor of the said sheriff court who announced the judgement, and in amercement of the justice ayre, as is appropriate by law, and that I give for doom.

This court of parliament shows for law and I give for doom that the doom given in the justice ayre of Dumfries held by Robert [Lyle], lord Lyle, justice, by the mouth of William MacCanny, suitor and dempster of the said justice ayre for the barons and the suitors of the sheriff court of Dumfries, and against Walter Porter and Elizabeth Douglas, his mother, and falsed and appealed by Master Adam Cockburn, advocate to the said Walter and Elizabeth, and on their behalf, 25 October 1468 was well given and wrongly appealed, and the said Walter and Elizabeth [are] in amercement of the justice ayre for each suitor who announced the doom and in amercement of this parliament, as is appropriate by law, and that I give for doom.
